Reading level is not the same as maturity level (And no I don't mean maturity as in poop jokes). It means he or she is able to read at a middle school level, but finds things like aliens creepy. All that means is that he's a fourth grader and likes fourth-grader type books but has a better vocabulary than most fourth-graders, which lets him read slightly higher-level books.

Yeah, but content increases in maturity level with an increase in vocabulary level.

The standardized test can say you have a whatever vocabulary, but it's not perfect.

I'm pretty high leveled in reading, But maturity... I'd read books about monsters in bad science experiments more than books about aliens taking over the world....  neutral  You can say I'm not mature but I'd really read even robot books before aliens. I'd even read a science fiction book first, too  hmm

Re: Your favorite books

If you're in fourth grade and at a sixth grade level, I suggest the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade categories in my list thing since I mostly rounded up

Re: Your favorite books

I like Fire & Hemlock. That's great but pretty confusing. I'd reccomend any of Diane Wynne Jones' stuff to you. None of it's scary in my opinion, but she has written some alien stuff if I remember correctly. I also enjoyed the London Eye Mystery-by (kinda) the same author is A Monster Calls. Both are fairly intense/scary-LEM is more realistic but a really great mystery.
The Kingdom Keepers are okay (a bit adverty) if you like Disney. I think there's some bits with stuff like the Small World ride going demented, so you may be scared by that. I wasn't paticularly impressed, but you may enjoy it. You might enjoy Percy Jackson and the Olympians/spinoff (*coughcoughformulaicjunkcoughcough*) series or some of Roald Dahl's children's stuff (my paticular favourites are Boy, George, Pelican and Charlie-the Glass Elevator's not as good as the first book but still amazing).
Hope this helps. C:

Ok! I think I'll check out something like Charlie and the Chocolate factory.
P.S. I've been reading Animorphs. The most terrible part is when they try getting rid of the cat. That to cats??? Not cool!

Re: Your favorite books

so fourth grade? hatchet maybe? When I was in 4th grade, Extra Credit by Andrew Clements came out. that's a great book that I read then-it's not too easy or hard-and it teaches about the Middle East too-good luck!

Redwall never struck me as particularly gory or scary.

oh I didn't read whole OP post just the topic xD

I don't know then, I remember reading whole series of horror books when I was really young but I can't remember titles of these books.
I remember that one of these books was about undead skater or skeleton skater or something like that. There was also another one about a pumpkin man or something, can't remember either.

The only books I read are horror ones really so I can't recommend any other books xD

EDIT: I was searching these books on the google and couldn't find them, but just after writing this comment I found them on wikipedia lol xD

These book series were called "Graveyard School".

I knew these books had something to do with grave and school lol. xD
