New Flagging System Suggestion (NFSS)

I flagged a project getting a message:

We checked the project you flagged, but didn't find any problems with it. Please only flag projects or comments that are mean or inappropriate for Scratch. Check out the Community Guidelines for help deciding what is or isn't ok for Scratch. Flagging projects that aren't inappropriate or disrespectful may cause your account to be blocked. Thanks! - Scratch Team

It was flagged because a member of WarpSound (not giving the name), basically took WarpSound's paint editor, and didn't give credit to us. He/she says he/she designed all of it, and he/she posted a comment, but I couldn't view it. Why? Because I flagged it.

So, I'd like to propose a new flagging system.

If a project gets flagged by one, he/she (or the whole community) can only view the comments of the project, temporarily. The population of the scratch community allowed to view it is depended on a rating score, similar to what mods use, below the flagging area. I know that bots could abuse this system quite easily, so, you could use CAPTCHA. Also, I know that Scratchers could, too, so if that Trusted Scratcher status comes out, then only they could ban the whole community from that project. Oh, and if it's a comment, then it's in a reverse order.

Isn't that the mods job?

Why would reversing the order of a comment change anything... all you have to do is read it backwards. I mean look at this

Wes64 is a looney

yenool a si 46seW

it doesnt do anything, it just makes everything confusing and messy

I think the best solution is not to make flagged material invisible to the user who flags them.

Re: New Flagging System Suggestion (NFSS)

Okay, I did not copy!  Nobody was doing anything, so I made it my own!

Did you make the base? No.
Did you make the tools? No.
Did you make the design? No.

So what did you do? Nothing.

either way I know you made edits to it yourself because I saw you testing it on multiple occasions. therefore, it is a valid remix.

now please, back on topic and don't fight about who made the paint editor. we are discussing new flagging options, not your personal conflicts.

Re: New Flagging System Suggestion (NFSS)

Okay, sure.  I was just pointing out that I did everything.

Don't support.  This too complicated, with the "Trusted Scratcher" and backward comments and whatnot.

And it was suggested in a topic by Paddle2See but was denied.

Also, the backwards comments.

What if a troll wrote gibberish backwards?  You report it (because you ahould report gibberish), and It turns out to be a bad word(s)?  You can report it, because it's already been reported!

Yes, I did nothing, because...
But still you could have given us slight credit, because it's our history, and all...

Wes64, I meant the opposite process.

No, no, it's not like that. See the comment above this one.

Re: New Flagging System Suggestion (NFSS)

First off, there doesn't need to be a new system just because you think that berberberber took your project and you want it banned.
And second off, what is the opposite process?

Re: New Flagging System Suggestion (NFSS)

Cool, the scratch team really dislikes captias, because they think it is very hard for some users.

Re: New Flagging System Suggestion (NFSS)

Wow...sounds pretty complicated to me.

Seems like the problem could have been avoided if you had read the comments you wanted to read before you flagged the project.  Or was the comment added after you flagged it?

I'm not sure I fully understand the thinking behind the current process of making the project invisible to the flagger.  I believe it was intended more for offensive material then a remix/copy situation.  Perhaps we could avoid the problem by allowing the flagger to specify certain basic categories of flag - and have different behavior depending on what they chose.
