If you just copy a project without making much changes, you may get warned or banned if anyone flags it.

Concerning sprites, I'm not too sure about that. However, if that sprite was created by the owner him/herself, and you just copy it without credit, I'm not sure what may happen.

Well, if you do steal others' projects without giving credit multiple times, I'm not sure what can happen, but if you do keep doing it after a warning is issued by the ST, it's probably a bannable offense.

sprites are totally fair game (every sprite that has ever been uploaded can be used - thats the whole point of being able to download). You should still probably ask though, or tell them.
