Mythology Thread

I am fascinated by mythology around the world. I know a good bit of Greek mythology and I am fascinated by Egyptian, Mesopotamian, and African mythologies.

Discuss any mythology here. You can also create your own myths here too, if you want, which is why I put it in MaC.

Sounds like a cool topic!  But if it's going to be in TiMaC - you have to be making or creating it.  Do you have a good example to get us started?  You might even be able to find some Myths in the Scratch Community that you could work with (kaj?).

Kaj myth would be a good idea.

But the definition of a myth is pretty much a story from a no longer believed in religion. :s

Re: Mythology Thread

In folkloristics, a myth is a sacred narrative usually explaining how the world or humankind came to be in its present form,[2] although, in a very broad sense, the word can refer to any traditional story.[3]

So we need to figure out how to make them traditional stories. :s

Traditional stories, or stories about traditions, differ from both fiction and nonfiction in that the importance of transmitting the story's worldview is generally understood to transcend an immediate need to establish its categorization as imaginary or factual. In the academic circles of literature, religion, history, and anthropology, categories of traditional story are important terminology to identify and interpret stories more precisely.
