Scratch on Ubuntu 10.10 maverick?

Can anyone point to instructions on how to install?  Most of the documentation refers to Ubuntu 12, which has the scratch package in the repository, but 10.10 does not.

I can't find the older .deb packages that some documentation refers to. (such as scratch_1.4.0.1-0ubuntu5_i386.deb)

I also tried to add the repo https://launchpad.net/~scratch/+archive/ppa, but get stuck with:

> sudo apt-get install scratch
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package scratch is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'scratch' has no installation candidate

Thanks for any feedback.
