It was better than the Olympics.

They didn't have Muse play! That is just wrong! Muse is like the most well-known British artist in America!
Oh and RedRocker227, It was the olympics.

Agreed. I was hoping Muse would play, especially since they made the OFFICIAL Olympics song.
How can you make the official Olympics song and not play in the olympics?

I was hoping they had Coldplay also.

I LOVED the opening and closing ceremonies, but I had some problems.
First of all: It was supposed to sum up British culture.
WHERE WAS DOCTOR WHO?!? Seriously!
And then there was some other things I would've liked to have them mention: Lord of the Rings, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (they should have played 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish' from the movie version!), Top Gear, Sherlock Holmes, maybe even some classic stuff like Oliver Twist or even Shakespeare.
And then I got a little confused about there choice of guest stars. Where was Elton John? He is alive. He is very famous. He is capable of performing. They had One Direction, but not Elton? Woooooow.
I was also a little miffed when David Bowie didn't show up! They played the shorted amount of his music, and they totally made it look like he was going to show up. But no, he did not.
I'd also like to have seen some Doctor Who Actors, Elijah Wood, John Cleese, even Jamie Oliver would be cool. And Coldplay should have performed! If you wanna go for something popular, pick Coldplay over One Direction (not just because I don't like One Direction, Coldplay IS more popular and has been around longer)
I thought the 30 song medley was weird. It was good, but it was all over the place. There was around 20 seconds of Bohemian Rhapsody at the beginning and then they played Imagine for 2 minutes or so. I like both songs, but really, they should even it out.
I was missing Elton, like I said, Coldplay, and I think it would be so cool if they had Dexy's Midnight Runners play Come On Eileen!
On the other hand, I loved seeing Madness and Blur. And those were perfect songs to choose!
For Paul McCartney: I loved that he performed, but I didn't get the song choice and as much as I love him, he is old and can't sing as well. It dragged on too long and it was less about the olympics and all about McCartney instead. I don't know... I just didn't feel it.
When 'Queen' played, I was surprised that they didn't play We are the Champions.
I was also very disappointed when I heard that Jessie J was singing. Why would they do that? Why not that amazing impersonator they've been touring with?
I will admit her voice is nice when it isn't autotuned, but QUEEN? She ruined it.
I was actually mad that her and that rapper got what: THREE songs?
I think they should have focused on the older bands than the new ones, because British Culture today is so influenced by the past.
Overall, great ceremonies. But with some flaws.
It still beats our olympics (Canada). In fact it makes ours look like an embarrassment. We floated a giant beaver balloon around. And talked about stereotypes.
Next time the olympics is here in Canada (which will probably be in like four years), we should get Celine Deon to perform. Leonard Cohen. Allyssa Reid. Michael Buble. Fefe Dobson. Even Bieber would end up performing, but it still beats beaver balloons. They could do a tribute to Terry Fox. They could have Wayne Gretzky speak. So much they could do and all they focus on is inflatable animals.
Oh well. There's always the next Olympics.
Wow, that was long.

What about Deadmau5? He's Canadian!
Anyways, did anyone notice the Pyramid Heads (which looked like the ones from Silent Hill, but much brighter) carrying The Pet Shop Boys?

I agree with wiimaster, they should have done we are the champions. And Top Gear, although, now that I think of it, they probably wouldn't want Jeremy Clarkson representing all of England...

I heard NBC cut it for America.
