Not to sound impatient, but it has been a week since the topic was closed, and I still haven't heard from the ST. Have you reached a decision?

decisions may take a long time and this issue may not be top-priority at the moment
what are they supposed to be deciding on, anyway?

Since topics about cooking go in the MaC forum, do topics about eating and consuming food go on this one?

Seems like the right place for them, sure.

Just make sure they are something you are really enthusiastic about sharing  smile

Re: Discuss the Policies of This Forum

It has been a while, and Paddle diliberately went over the whole discussion to post to answer another question. That either means they're trying to just let it go away quietly, or haven't discussed yet, or can't decide. Any of those are fine, and will take time, so we will be patient.

Thanks for reminding us!  I believe it might have fallen through the cracks - I'll reignite the conversation.

After some discussion, we decided that the benefit of open discussion of religious topics did not out-weigh the cost of trying to keep such conversations civil and productive - so religious topics are no longer allowed on this forum or the other non-Scratch forum (Things I'm Making and Playing).  It's not a decision that we are overly happy about - but we feel it is necessary from a practical standpoint.

Very well. In some ways, I feel you're right, and in others, I feel you're not. But going through it, a couple bad consequences came to my mind, and the bad does outweigh the good now. I understand fully, but thank you for responding!

Re: Discuss the Policies of This Forum

Can I suggest an "off-topic discussion" page, because it's hard (for me) to only stick to Scratch-related stuff. There's a "things I'm reading and playing" page, but other than that it's pretty limited. Don't get me wrong, if someone needs help on Scratch I'll assist them the best I can, but I think an off-topic discussion page would be a great addition to the Scratch community.

there used to be just a "miscellaneous" section but it was hard to moderate and therefore gotten rid of

If I have a thread in this section, but I want to make a more general topic that sort of deals with the same thing, would I have to close my first topic?

Welcome to the brand-new "Things I'm Reading and Playing" forum!

Since it is so new, the policies are still not completely nailed down.  There are going to be questions about them and adjustments made to them.  So post your questions/suggestions here and we'll see where the conversation leads us.

Do you really need an entire forum for this? Can't you just have people click on the username of people and see their favorites. And who discusses what they're reading online?

What about the "playing" part?
And how on earth would someone find out a users favorites by clicking on their username?
Videogames and movies/shows go in here too, as well as music, so I guess it's really more of a "Things I'm Reading, Playing, Listening or Watching" section. But that title is too long  tongue
@777w: I belive he meant that he created a project about "Do we really need an "Things I'm reading and playing forum," which got deleted.

isnt this whole forum paradoxical?

no matter what the subject of your post is, it is always on topic because its a piece of writing. it is something you read, therefore it fits the Things I'm Reading and Playing forum
