Oh dear, most of J. Mascis's songs have insane solos, so let's see...
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
Feel the Pain by Dinosaur Jr.
Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd
Just Like Heaven by Dinosaur Jr.
Kracked by Dinosaur Jr.

I was just about to vote for that, too. XDI think originally the Edgar Winter and Rick Darrenger group did that song...but yeah it's one of the most insane solo's ever.
Er... no? It was originally written and performed by Mr. Van Halen of Van Halen for Van Halen.
At least one Van Halen was unnecessary here.

I'd be happy with anything that Brian May played to be on the list.
But whatever~

YYZ by Rush on the Exit Stage Left album
The whole song is pretty much a guitar solo with a drum solo right in the middle of it.

"Paranoid Android" // Radiohead
It's the only one I know.

The solo in Brian Eno's "Baby's on Fire" by Robert Fripp

All of "Echoes" is ridiculously uninteresting to me and if there's any solo in there I didn't notice because of the campy annoying length. Seems like the kind of song people pretend to "get" when there's nothing there to receive (Like 75% of Radiohead's last five albums! ^O^)

You have to understand David Gilmour's style of playing. His technique isn't about speed or versatility, but rather, it's about how he transfers his emotions into his guitar playing, which is both warm and emotive.
Plus, though it is a bit hard to notice under the dense soundscapes, the sounds that Gilmour makes in that particular song are out of this world. He's able to mimick the sound of a group of seagulls, the sound of a distant UFO, the sound of sheer chaos with one guitar.
