Hey All4one, have you done the vocals?  smile

Also, what's the status with wolvestar97?

I asked her, but she didn't reply. I hope she gets it done soon.

Yeah, it's been delayed a heck of a long time...  hmm

I know.  hmm  I think she's delaying it just like Necro did. In fact, if she doesn't give us any word on her audition by next Monday (the 13th, in other words), then I will tell her that her deadline is up.

Also, I still haven't gotten the chance to record my vocals, but rest assured, I'll post it really soon.  smile

Aw  sad
I'm probably to late to join as a pianist.
Pity. I LOVE the Beatles, and I can play good versions of their songs.

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

Since DIY is playing a lot of parts including lead, electric rhythm, piano as well as mixing, I'm sure he could spare the piano parts for you. The question though, is whether or not you would be active enough and put in lots of effort, therefore be able to submit tracks quickly.

We're totally open for you joining the band as a pianist. I'm sure DIY would be willing to spare the part. However, since none of the main members of the band were full-time pianists, you'd probably be something of a session music, if that's all right with you.  smile

Can you send an audition tape to us so we can hear your piano playing? Also, do you have a keyboard, or just a piano?

I'm almost finished with the drum tracks! Tweaking them a bit.

So sorry for the delay, it wont happen again.

EDIT: :)

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

Now, we need Here Comes the Sun vocals, Yesterday vocals and Yesterday quartet track and we have our first single with A and B side  smile

And doing a premix with your drums, my guitar and techno's bass, everything's sounding fine and everything synchronised.

Really? Thanks, I'm glad to hear that, I've been wanting to join one of these scratch bands for a while now!

Here is my plan: I'll upload a project that is just a full-out sample of my piano skills (for other music-related collabs too.)
It will have an example of each genre I specialize in (if you are wondering, I play jazz, blues, ragtimes, classical, and contemporary). Then, of course, I can add some examples of Beatles songs. From there you can tell me what you actually want me to play.
Depending on how well my recording goes, I could have this posted from today until next week (I use a pretty bad keyboard D smile
It just depends if my software messes up or not.

In case you are wondering, I have been in piano lessons for almost 10 years, so I can sight-read quite well, so I'm sure pretty much any beatles song you give me I can pick up pretty fast.

I currently use audacity to record, but if anyone has any better suggestions (preferably free software) that would be great  smile

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

DIY is on holiday and has problems replying to this thread, I'll just quote bits of the e-mail he sent me:

(...) I did see that wolvestar97 had posted her drum tracks (I listened to them and they are pretty good). I could have posted then, but darn, I had to break for dinner.

(...) Just ask jji7skyline and wolvestar97 to upload their respective guitar and drum tracks on SoundCloud if they can because I don't have QuickTime 7 Pro on this computer. My main computer is at home, but if they upload their tracks on SoundCloud, I can quickly mix Here Comes the Sun while on vacation. Also tell All4one to upload his vocal tracks for that song so that we have a complete song, save for the moog effects which I can add at ease. The string quartet for Yesterday will be added as well (perhaps when I return home), and I will take a shot at vocals then too.

(...) I'll be coming back in about a week or so. Hence, I need the band to cooperate with me if we are to release the A and B singles by around mid-August.

(...) Here Comes the Sun and Yesterday do not have piano on the original tracks. Thus, we do not need wiimaster as the pianist for now.

Also, if we do the Abbey Road Medley, I've learned the You Never Give Me Your Money piano parts through to The End (I've not recorded The End, but I'll do so soon), so I'll be taking care of piano. Could you, as kindly as possible, convey this to wiimaster and the The Walruses band members and say that we do not need a pianist.

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

I'll upload my thing to soundcloud, though I don't see why I can't just keep it on dropbox  hmm

I don't see why wiimaster can't stay on as a pianist for later recordings, since apparently DIY has already learned the parts for the medley.

Great drum track, wolf! A really clean recording and incredible timing. You're in the band.  big_smile

Meanwhile, I apologize for the extreme delay in my vocals; I seriously had no time to do it as of now. I'll see if I can record and upload it today.

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

Darn, I do believe I am no longer needed here.
Its rather unfortunate too, I've been practicing 'All you need is love' of my audio example XD
Should I finish upload the song(s) anyways in case you may need me in the future?

Lastly, just to give me something to do while I am not actually doing anything for the collab, I could make a signature link for each song you release. For example, once you release 'here comes the sun' I will make a fancy looking image for all the band members to put in their signatures to advertise the band.

That would be a great way to promote our first single. Can you make a sig that advertises both "Here Comes the Sun" and "Yesterday" on it?  big_smile

Also, you can still give us your audition tape just in case - if we do "All You Need is Love", we might just incorporate your piano recording in the mix. I'd hate to see such hard work go to waste.

Maybe we should do "All You Need is Love" as our first single after we release "Abbey Road". What do you guys think?

Great, hopefully you will like the signatures, because I do! I'll have them posted this evening or tomorrow morning.

Also, I'd much rather be a pianist, but if you also need a guitarist, I play that too (I'm not as experienced in guitar as I am in piano... I've done piano for 10 years and guitar for 4). I know how to play Come Together off by heart though  smile
