I had a very strong urge to make a topic about one of my favorite bands of all time. Maybe it's a bit of an exaggeration, but I think they may sort of be like "The Beatles of Heavy Metal".

What are your favorite songs/albums? Here's my list of favorite songs:

Misty Mountain Hop
Black Dog
Rock and Roll
No Quarter
Stairway to Heaven
Going to California
Heartbreaker
Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)
All My Love
Fool in the Rain
Kashmir
Whole Lotta Love

Just to name a few.

This is a bit off topic, but i'm glad to see that some people like good music. Today the only reason people get rich off of music is when thousands of annoying 11 and 12 year old girls think you're cute. back in the days of REAL music, to be successful you had to have good music, not look good (but looking good did help) now all we have left is a bunch of autotuned idiots running around making bad music. I wish there was more good music today.

Dubstep is OK but it's all very similar, I don't think i'm going to be buying an album anytime soon. Rock? I can explain what I think of modern rock music in one word: nickleback. I appreciate the skill that it takes to rap, but I really don't like rap in general. Pop is an autotuned pile of garbage, I have never and will never listen to it.

The difference between the good old days and now is that we've had time to filter out the carp from back then and only play the good stuff. There was just as much good stuff then and now (not exactly, but still), it just isn't as easy to find.
Take the Archies - they were a band from the comic book that actually made songs. Now listen to one of their most famous songs: Sugar Sugar. That was the NUMBER ONE HIT for 1969. Yeah.

I think you're thinking mainstream alternative rock. I think there's an equal amount of, if not more, good music being released today.
