NOVA=awesome show, and the MIT was on NOVA!

So, there's this TV show that I like to watch called NOVA, and some people from the MIT were on there! there's this multiple-part thing on NOVA that's trying to figure out the universe, and it has a bunch of quantum mechanic things that I don't quite understand, bu it's an awesome show. one of the people from the MIT said something that is strange sounding, but true. He said "food is not quantumized." no, I don't really understand much of this part of NOVA since it's about physics, but whatever the case, it's a cool show. they're soon going to do a part of NOVA all about dreams. why do we dream? do they mean something? and it's gonna get really deep into that. I reccomend the show.

Were there any details about this sentence?
Or was this guy just obsessed with food and used his only sentence on the show to say that?

I need more details.

well, I don't quite understand the word "quantumized". I"m gonna look it up in my computer's dictionary...

LATER:

it turns out the word is "quantized. this is what the dictionary says. can anybody translate this?

quantize |ˈkwänˌtīz|
verb [ trans. ]
1 Physics apply quantum theory to, esp. form into quanta, in particular restrict the number of possible values of (a quantity) or states of (a system) so that certain variables can assume only certain discrete magnitudes.
2 Electronics approximate (a continuously varying signal) by one whose amplitude is restricted to a prescribed set of values.

oh, and the full sentence was  "food is not quantized. space is." or something like that.

The Elegant Universe or the other one with Brian Greene?  I watched both.

the one with Brian Greene. but I"m so excited about that dream one! the problem with the ones with brian greene was that it didn't fit with my religion's beliefs.

Oh man.

I see you've taken the whole sentence wrong or close to it. Often science TV shows try to explain in laymen's terms complex ideas. In this sentence he found something ridiculously easy to understand (food) as the negative example for something be quantized.

The point he was trying to get across would be more like "Space is quantized."

These are scientific shows. Now I realize some of it is theoretical (which is not simply a hypothesis) and not entirely proven and even controversial (Stephen Hawking has done a piece on if we need a God), the scientists thought process and logic is still admirable and should not ruin your opinion on them.
