I read Car and Driver magazine and have an account on their site. The way it's set up is: you get a certain amount of points for posting a comment, picture, or forum post. Over time, your points accumulate and you have a symbol diplaying how close you are to "Super User" or "Moderator" status.
I thought a similar system would be good for Scratch, where maybe a comment would be worth 10 pts. and a project post would be worth 50 pts. Then the Scratchers that are trying to help improve the whole Scratch community would have a chance to, over time, become more invovled in how the website looks, what the forums should be like, etc.
I also think maybe there should be a "like" and "dislike" button on all comments, and when another user hits "like," you get 5 pts. If they hit "dislike," you lose 5 pts.
Obviously, each user would start out with 0 points, and over time, would accumulate more and more points.
I thought a point system would look like this:
-100 pts - if something you posted is flagged as innapropriate, and found innapropriate by the Scratch Team
-5 pts - if someone dislikes a comment you posted
5 pts - if someone likes a comment you posted
10 pts - if you post a comment
50 pts - if you upload a project (but it would have to be a real project and not something that simply has the letter "w" in the screen and nothing happens)
What are your thoughts?

Awesome.

I think this will worsen behaviour. People will be going "LIKE MAH POST" all the time, and worthless projects will be spammed, no matter what. Of course, it would be nice if I was high enough to get this added, I'll need it later.

Yeah, though when scratch 2 comes out I'm going to make a new account, this one is very cluttered and I want to have an account that only has games and stuff that are even further beyond awesome. Unfortunately, some noob stole the username I desire, that's going to have to be sorted out with the website admins.
