Comments slow down Scratch editor

I'm pretty new to Scratch, and I was searching online for help on how to speed up the ssslllllooooooowwww Scratch editor. I learned that it has to do with how many or how long the scripts are for a sprite.

Well, I noticed that I used all the same scripts for different sprites, but only one of the sprites was slow: the one with all the comments. So I started removing comments. The first one was painfully slow to remove. The comments became faster and faster to remove as I went down. By the time I removed all the comments, the sprite became reasonably fast to edit!

It seems that comments really slow down the Scratch editor.

the more sprites and scripts you have in a project, the slower it is. make sure you are using flash to make it nice and fast.

Re: Comments slow down Scratch editor

Thanks, I knew that. I'm adding the information, which I haven't seen anyone contribute yet, that simply removing comments greatly sped up the editor for me.

Re: Comments slow down Scratch editor

Comments take up RAM. Obviously Scratch isn't very memory-efficient. But seriously, why so many comments?
