Honestly, I've never seen a comment war, I've never started a comment war, and I've never participated in one, but I still support this because I can imagine how annoying it is to get a bunch of stupid spam comments on your projects.

I know. One time, I was a victim of a spam attack of 'GURF's on my project "LOLWUT". It got so bad, that I locked the comments, and put a really angry message in the project notes. In addition, I retaliated and told people to go to one of his projects and comment "CHEEEEEEEESE CUUUUUUUURDS!!". Of course, as soon as I found out that comment wars are spam, I removed that. I also removed all the 'GURF' comments, and comments with 'GURF' in them. Then I unlocked the comments, and posted a nicer message in the notes. All was fixed. I just hope that never happens again...

Well. I think spam wars are okay. But ONLY if a project is made just for the war. But it may bother others if you just do it in random projects. :I You may be wondering why i'm replying to JhonnyD.
