Most Disturbing Children's Songs

There are too many to count, like rock a bye baby, why is a baby in a tree? And ring around the rosies, that was a song about the plague! Anyway, discuss.

Re: Most Disturbing Children's Songs

There's the most disturbing kid's shows, so I made this. But yeah, 3 blind mice is disturbing. Especially after watching the Mousetrap, a play by Agatha Christie I believe.

Re: Most Disturbing Children's Songs

A comedian made a whole show out of this, why are we teaching little kids these songs?

There was a CD with a list of kid songs and one song was about a lady bug. Her home was burned and her children died.

Re: Most Disturbing Children's Songs

I thought we were only allowed to talk about music that "inspires" us, not songs that relates to a certian theme.

There is also a most disturbing kid's shows topic, I assume we're fine. And those two songs are disturbing too.

Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home. Your house is on fire, your children's alone.

I'm kinda glad I didn't ever hear that one when I was little. Probably would have scarred me for life...

Re: Most Disturbing Children's Songs

Are we trying to freak out our kids, or what's up with this violence in our nursery rhymes and songs?

It was originally called Jack and Gill and it's purpose was poking fun at 2 English Noblemen. It was later interpreted as the modern Jack and Jill.

Humpty Dumpty.
Why is he always portrayed as an egg? Who ever said that he was an EGG? What if he isn't an egg?

It was a riddle and how was that disturbing?

That's the good version. :L
This is a ridiculous topic. This music was made for a different time, when children couldn't be uplifted but needed to be warned. It was very likely that they would fracture their head and the people wouldn't have medicines to fix it.
So looking at this now, of course it seems ridiculous (not 'disturbing') but back then they were life lessons.
