Uh no your friend has no right to be mad at you he was breaking the law and as we all know the law is the only right thing!!! It does not matter that you will no longer have friends because at least you are obeying the law and the law is right and the law is just!!!

I'd personally rather have integrity than friends, and to have that integrity it means obey the law, unless the law goes against God's law, ect. For the rest of you, the law is what you should obey and uphold, regardless of consequence. No one said it would be easy!

I've seen you active in two threads that I follow recently, and two times you have brought your religion into it for no apparent reason.
I hate having other people, meaning the people who right the laws, set my morals for me. Just because it is the law does not mean that I must support it, and does not mean that I must turn someone in "on a matter of integrity." I wouldn't turn in a runaway slave if I found them hiding on my property just because the law said I had to.

My beliefs are supposed to be what govern my life, and on a moral question such as these, that is what you answer with, your belief.

No apparent reason, really?  tongue

We are talking about the law.

You should support a secular law regardless of religion.

Re: Pirating - your opinions?

Eh, depends. Some laws are worth breaking, none in this country that I know of, but in countries where Christianity is outlawed, I'd break that law. Anyway, he asked for opinions, something that your beliefs will affect. If he was asking for details about said laws, that would have nothing to do with beliefs.

Re: Pirating - your opinions?

The industrial world is a food chain:

Idea > Programmer > Money > Company

So the programmer takes the idea, programs it into something, get money. Companies get the programmer to work for them, thus, they now own the game and THEY get money for it.

There are 2 ways of looking at it:

The game is actually an idea. Ideas are free and anyone can have them. So really, anyone could do whatever they want, however, there would be consequences, but they can still do what they want.

Other way:

Piracy is wrong. Developers can't develop as they don't have money. The game industry crashes and burns BADLY.

To be clear here I totally support getting the developers money, or the band money, etc. What I take objection to is that major companies can profit on other people's work.

Yeah.

What is sarcasm!! If my parent was being bad and acting against the law I would turn them in because who needs a meaningful existence when you can obey the law!!!

You really don't know? Or are you being sarcastic? It's when you say one thing, but you mean the opposite, that would be like me saying I hate Minecraft, but I really love it.

No, that would be lying. Sarcasm is when you do that and make it overly obvious that you are lying.

I don't know many American laws, but I doubt anyone agrees on every law in a whole country. And a lot of America has some stupid discriminating laws.

I figured as much, because I don't really trust anyone for anything anymore. Learned that the hard way, but still. Anyway, breaking the law is not okay in this instance.

I'd have to read the book of laws to know if there were any worth breaking, but the only ones I would break, are ones pertaining to limiting Christianity, and since we're guarunteed freedom of religion, I don't think there's anything else.
