Like when you mouse over  a word, it sometimes shows an ad related to the word.

Oh wow. I'm always really annoyed by that on other sites, but I've never seen it on scratch.

Theres a ridiculously long list of possible add-on names here, which is where I found most of my info on it.
MAybe just go there and read about it.

Did you disable flash? If you did that maybe try one of the other options.
