So uh, soup and I are hosting this thingamajig kind of like Camp NaNoWriMo here on Scratch. (Actually it's pretty much exactly like Camp NaNo, except since I am restricted to the use of Scratch and Gmail I can't do the real one.)
It's pretty simple. The premise of NaNoWriMo, a rather interesting abbreviation of National Novel Writing Month (officially November, but they've got other ones in the summer and stuff--hence, Camp NaNo): you try to write a novel in one month.
No pressure or anything, yes?
Except this is much easier to do, since school is going to be starting and
Wait hold on a second, I only have a little over two weeks of summer vacation left!! Nonononono!!!
all that. It starts tomorrow (or today, depending on your timezone)--Wednesday, August 1, 2012--and you have until the last day of the month to finish.
However!!
Unlike the 50,000 word rule on NaNo, the rule here is /at least/ 10k, and you can set your own goal to be higher than that.
Also, feel free to post excerpts of your novel here and seek advice.
What Counts
Any collection of short stories or novel chapters, in poetry or prose, that, altogether, adds up to 10,000 words or more. Which isn't /that/ much if you're working at this for a month really.

Alrighty no one's going to sign up for this I bet but whatever k!
Or if they do won't follow through, since that's the spirit of Camp NaNo
Happy writing!

Good preparation and all that
I highly doubt it'll be bad

yeah well i have 559.(still not sure if I want to enter)
Enter. Achieving minimum will be a very relaxed challenge and even possibly 20-25K isn't unimaginable even with school.

Yet the day has hardly begun!

Everyone post your first sentence.
The entire town was a strange sight but it didn't matter because outsiders never looked upon it and whether those living within found the aesthetics attractive or functional was unknown.

Although it was a fair-weathered spring day with hardly a cloud in the sky, the neighbourhood playground seemed dead and grey as if all its colour and vigour had been sucked from it, and was uninhabited save for a brown-haired teenage girl.

I have summer reading, band camp, school supply shopping, and I need to work at orientation with my mom who is now (sadly) on the PTO board (D=)
