This is, I believe, the third restart of Dwarvencraft. If you have been on the previous servers, you probably remember a bloodbath full of constant fear of being killed. Bases were built underground to avoid attracting attention. You probably also remember lots of lag; my internet is faster now.
I never intended the server to become a bloodbath, but since people had the power to attack each other, they did. After plenty of deliberation in the MC official topic, that's not what most of the people wanted, either.
One of the things that will be different this time around is the replacement of Factions with Towny. The only PvP will be between enemy nations. To conquer a town (via a flag-based capture system of Towny) there must be residents of the town online to fight back. Another thing, we will be whitelisted.
I will post more information in other posts.

Rules
1. Any declaration of war must be posted onto the forums with a reason for declaration.
2. Any declaration of war must include a reason for why you intend to declare war. Possible reasons include things such as trespass or refusal to trade. Pictures are also recommended.
3. A nation may declare war on any faction who attacks one of their allies.
4. Do not ask for OP
5. No hacks. Minimaps are fine, but only surface maps, not Entity Radars or Cavemaps.
6. Standard Scratch rules also apply.
7. The War Crime Doctrine: Upon repeated offenses of rules 1, 2, and 3, an admin may revoke the protections of those rules from the offending nation. This effectively authorizes attack on the nation.
8. To form a nation, there shall be a fee of 500 (gold, dollars, whatever the name of the currency is :3).
9. No combat logging.
Rules 1, 2, and 3 are punishable at first by fines, then war (see the War Crime Doctrine), followed by the disbandment of the nation.
Rule 4 and 6 are punishable by fines.
Rule 5 is an instant ban.
Rule 9 is punishable by a fine followed by a ban.

Towny Tutorials: Getting your nation started
Residents
Everyone who joins is a resident. The command "/resident" outputs information about your resident such as money, town, plots, and friends. They can purchase plots that the town's mayor has put up for sale.
Mayors, Starting a Town
To start a town, you must first pay the price of 500 "credits." This can be pooled together by a group of people, but they must agree to one mayor. The mayor will receive permission to use the command "/town new <townname>", to create a town. The spot that you are on becomes the first town "block," a 16*16 area. They can then claim adjacent "blocks" by using "/town claim".
To give plots to users, the mayor would type "/plot forsale <price>". They can also be categorized using "/plot set <type>" into the following groups: shop, arena, embassy, and wilds.
These are simply the basics. For more information, go to the Towny Wiki.

Hooray, a new form of combat logging.
I should add combat-logging to the rules. Also, the method of conquering in Towny does not completely involve PvP. It involves placing a fence block in place of a flagpole. That then initiates a procedure to claim the area. Defenders can stop the process just by breaking the wool that spawns on top of the "flagpole."

Like, why don't we screw plugins that help us do this and make whatever towns we want and to conquer you just have to like overwhelm the nation and have a reason for war.

It's actually DC4.
Here's how I keep track of it
DC1 is the one with oranges? I think it was, who dominated.
DC2 was Hipsters faction who dominated
DCR (DC3/DwarvenCraft Revival) was the first map of the second thread you made
DCR2 was the second map
This is DC4 IMO, because the server is coming fully back up after being down for a significant time, not just changing maps
Oh, and could I be whitelisted?
My town's gonna have a library!

However it's the third because it's the 3rd major reboot of rules.
Also, PLEASE no deathban.

Whitelist jwk2007 too! This sounds cool, I never saw one with towns like this before...

I think we should have a short deathban, to discourage too much PVP. Maybe 5 minutes? That's enough to be a little frustrating, but stops people constantly relogging and trying to kill again. But I'm not really that sure about that, but I think it would be ok. If it's like 6 hours there's going to be that super annoying moment with a creeper walking up to you un-noticed and insta-killing you.
Also, I think there's a plugin which means if you PVP log, your character dies and the other guy can get your stuff.
For the flagpole thing, can't people just hide the pole underground?

Actually, if we don't have a deathban we could have like a 5 or 10% gold fine.
I think you shouldn't have the 500 gold fine rule yet, until we see how much gold is worth. Because it might be the richest guy has 200 or the poorest has 1000. I think a % would be better.
Also, I think it would be cool if currency was kept small, so like a diamond might be worth £10.00 and a dirt would be worth £0.01. Just because it would be funny to see shops selling something at like £1.99.

No, the flagpole must be above ground. Also, there is a big beacon that shows up above it that can show the location. I think the idea of a short deathban is a good one.

Don't die then.
Well PvP be allowed in the wilderness? And Griefing/stealing?
No PvP in the wilderness, just between enemy nations. Griefing/stealing is allowed. Also, it's only going to be a ten minute ban, nothing serious.
