Is this allowed?

I've been arguing with this guy on a Pro-Life project about why abortions should be legal, and I was wondering if he's allowed to do a project on Pro-Life, am I allowed to do a pro- Medical Marijuana project?  Just asking, I couldn't figure it out based on the rules.

First of all, abortions are downright terrible! SEcond, no you can't make a game on drugs! Also, it will be removed and you may get kicked off if you do.

Re: Is this allowed?

It's always an interesting conversation when the talk of what's offensive comes up!  Because what's offensive to one person may not necessarily be offensive to somebody else.

I think this lands in the area of a definite "maybe".  We certainly don't want to see any projects encouraging our members to do something illegal.  But if you want to put forth arguments why something should be legal - and it was done in a sensitive fashion it might be okay.  Why don't you put it up and send an email to help@scratch.mit.edu, or drop me a comment and we can take a look at it and come to a decision?

And turkey3, that's a matter of opinion.  If someone believes that a person isn't alive until their born, then abortions aren't wrong in that persons opinion. Obviously you think a persons alive from conception, so you think abortions are always wrong.

Re: Is this allowed?

I'm not going to voice my opinion on abortion, but if you want to debate about that I'd say scratch isn't the place for it.

You pose a good point. This kind of stuff isn't any better than most of the arguments going on today. There's always going to be a sensitive subject that will never truly be resolved.

I remember reading somewhere that you can't post flamebait on scratch. I haven't seen this project, but if it seems like it's going to end in an argument I don't see anything wrong with reporting it or just having a word with the project creator.
Take the age group into account as well. A lot of these users are 8-15 years old. Half of them don't fully know what they're talking about, if you'll excuse my generalization.

Re: Is this allowed?

It'll probably be allowed, but marked NFE. I'm not sure, though.

Re: Is this allowed?

The Scratch website is not the place for political things, but if you can do it respectfully enough without provoking too much argument, sure.
