On behalf of Blue Cloud Productions, I'm thinking of starting a project that's a website for helping people learn Scratch through video tutorials, guides, text/image tutorials and articles. It'd have 50+ articles/tutorials/guides and would only cost $0.99 for a lifetime access account.
Would you or would someone that you know use/purchase this?
Please respond in this survey so I can decide whether to do this. Also, feel free to post suggestions for the site.

My only concern is the cost. Most parents will be unwilling to give up money to someone they have never even heard of. Plus, I wouldn't want to fork up $1 to learn about something free and open source, plus there are loads of free guides out there.

I don't think tutorials are required for people to learn Scratch. Most people learn by using the program. Honestly, I don't think anyone I know would use it. Something like this would be helpful for a more difficult language or application.

I don't think so. Why do that when people could just explore these forums for free?

Honestly, I think that since Scratch is free and open source, this needs to be free also.
Firedrake969, Ecliptic and Daroach1 said this in a much more lengthy way, but I'll just keep it simple. Nobody would buy it.

Yes, I can easily see that spending any money seems somewhat of a waste for this sort of thing.
However, it seems like if they could learn Scratch and become really good at it, it might help them learn other programming languages that would be worth something and people can apply for real jobs with that knowledge, so it seems like $0.99 wouldn't be a bad investment.
What if it were free, but instead of me making a bunch of tutorials and spending lots of time adding more, it would be a community where Scratchers could share their own tutorial videos and others could comment/like and make their own? Would this be something you guys see using, or would you rather just link to Youtube videos individually?

Why pay when you could just ask in the forums though?

It's not about asking, it's about tutorials and better videos explaining things, but as everyone has said, money is still too much to ask.

Still. It's not worth 99 cents when you could go on the forums or wiki. For FREE.

You never said specifically that it wouldn't cost money either.

Wait - what? You quoted the post where I said money is too much to ask in your post.

There's a lot of tutorials on the Wiki, though, and on YouTube (plus some other places probably). I just don't see why anyone would pay for such a thing when you could get it for free.

I'm not backing myself up; I created this survey and topic to find this out, so thank you for your feedback.

I would go to it, if it didn't cost money.
I don't think many people would buy it

I think we've established that.
Thanks everyone for your feedback; it was helpful in deciding to not do it. Blue Cloud Productions plans on expanding to the iOS app store soon, and that's our current project!

What kind of apps are you going to create?

Not exactly sure yet...but my first one will be a simple app just to get my company on the App Store and know more about the uploading process. You can check out the iPhone version of the app I will submit first here.

Cool! Is it going to be free?

I think it would be useful for people new to Scratch. Also, there are some other people who could use it. I have a friend who I introduced to scratch who's not allowed to upload or post ANYTHING on the internet, so if she wants to make anything and there's a problem she can't figure out, she can't ask anyone except me, and I don't see her very often. And if there are more people in the same situation, that would be incredibly useful for them.

Yeah, I won't charge you a buck for a rock paper scissors app.
