I went from Short/Tiny render with Fast and no smooth lighting, with 10-35 fps, to Far/Normal render, Fancy graphics and smooth lighting. Same fps.

Oh, and, how do you do dirt? I'm trying to make a texture pack, but I just can't make dirt look good.

okay no doing it exactly like this, because this is my special dirt design, but I make horizontal bars of different dirty looking colors, then I kinda mess them up, to make them look more natural. After that I place "dirt chunks" of a light color all throughout the dirt. The result is a cool wavy texture that looks very nice.

Protip: If you get a Fire in you inventory do not place it and remove it.

I think that it will only be a retexturing of the mobs. Not the blocks.
