i wasn't aware that was a question. and uh what do you expect us to say?

Well i at least want a reason Why we have the Olympics.

Greece came up with the idea to honor the Gods in Mount Olympus, however the idea eventually became a secular competition.

It's a friendly competition between the countries of the world to forget differences for a while and have fun.

Many times wars have been put on hold during the Olympics, even.

Also, I've never seen an opening ceremony.

Re: Official London 2012 Olympics Thread

I dislike the Olympics, firstly because they clog up roads in England, secondly many people lost their houses to make space for the stadiums, thirdly because they use up a lot of money, and fourthly because they don't get their sports clothing and stuff from good places, instead they pay poor people in China and places like that next to nothing to make them. I can't remember it exactly but it's something like the people who make them get 30p per T-Shirt made, and the company which sells them gets over £15.

There was some complaints in the US about how the uniforms were made in China, I think they said they replaced them with American made ones and promised to not have the uniforms made in China again.

Also, no Coldplay in the opening ceremony? Why not?

Not trying to be offensive but the Olympics is about the world in celebration, not just the host country.

I was joking lol. But Olympics never seemed to be about all countries working together. It seemed like all countries going against each other, with one winner.

I don't have a problem with them being made in China, I have a problem with how the people are payed. I assume that's why they complained about it in the US?

Yeah, but the Opening Ceremony is about the host country's identity. And if it was multicultural, celebrating the world's identity I fear you may not have liked it-I think you're looking for something similar to your own country.
Also you can't complain about a country and then say 'Not trying to be offensive...'

cause a bird and a fish could fall in love/but where would they live?

THE HUNGER GAMES!!
Also, no, it wasn't because of how they are paid. Really it is a chain reaction. If we pay the Chinese workers more, then the whole point of making stuff in China (cheap labor) would be gone, then we would make more stuff in America. I think that would be a good thing, but it isn't likely. It was just a political stunt to try to show patriotism. If they really cared they would provide incentives for companies to manufacture here.

1. Give tax breaks to companies who move jobs back to America (or tax ones who manufacture overseas)
2. More people working
3. More people paying income tax
4. ???
5. Profit!
