Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

Today is the one year anniversary since the name Frozen Coco was adopted by our band (a look at the old forum topic showed this)!  big_smile

Gotta notate Blissful Rapture's first (before interlude) solo now.

EDIT: ...I'm seriously considering using something other than Noteflight from now on to notate. It's insanely slow, as I've mentioned, and I can't even tab out frets above 10 with the number keys now. D:<

I have an ancient laptop (over 10 years old), which I rarely use, and it's not as bad as yours.  tongue

The only problem though is you can't press the left mouse key or the computer shuts down.  lol

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

so, DIY's 5 new songs are going in the third album, right? I think we have enough songs in our second.

Also, I'll be leaving tomorrow on a very long vacation. Noteflight wasn't working for my computer when I tried to record Blissful Rapture yesterday and today, so maybe someone else could record the drum track?

The best of them will go in the second album. We have to pick the cream of the lot, not on the basis of what was uploaded first...

I got a great new electric drum kit from which I may try to record 'Blissful Rapture' in that case. Techno, how about your Addictive Drums?

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

Yes, we must pick the songs that'll go in this album based in their quality and not the order of composition. If you ask me, the ones that are definitely going in the first are:

-Out of the Possible; possibly first single
-Blissful Rapture
-Early December
-hpotter's song; forgot title
-DIY's "masterpiece"
-DIY's funky song
-Flashback; it just needs a bit of guitar and bass

...but we have heaps of time to decide that, and to keep writing and recording songs.  smile

Don't have that installed currently, and the preset sounds tend to sound pretty artificial and noticeably different from jslomba's tracks - I'd give jsl's tracks priority for the sake of continuity - keeping a constant sound in the album.

We musn't decide on those songs either yet; stuff like the masterpiece, Out of the Possible, Blissful Rapture and Early December though are likely.

I already did record the drums to the opening song and had mixed it because jslomba failed to get back to me quick enough. For the sake of progress, I went ahead and did it, so there shouldn't be a problem with the different drum tracks. And it gives certain songs a pleasant sound without having all of them sound rather tinny.

Yeah, that looks like a good lineup for an album  smile

Not sure we should record my song (Mellow Song), it's rather dull and overly complicated to record.

I am working a few other songs at the moment...maybe they'll turn out recording-worthy.
Here's what I'm working on now...it's called "Homeward Bound". Thoughts? Comments?

Yeah. I was also thinking that your song might not fit techno's and my style of song-writing for the album. I like Homeward Bound better though (I like the ending guitar work; perhaps it could be used for a song intro?), but you definitely have to change the title since Paul Simon has an extremely famous song by the same name, which is a personal favourite of mine. XD

The same goes with jslomba's songs (they are very simple compared to techno's and mine); I'm sure you'll agree with me, techno. To be frank, they are too basic  hmm

I'd like to hear something as good as LSJ from you, jslomba. Could you pull off another song like that?  smile

EDIT: Mari (ContinentalRain) just contacted me through Tumblr and she's made good progress on the vocals for "Blissful Rapture" and "Early December". I'm sure she'll produce good vocal tracks for those two songs.  big_smile

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

These ideas of yours are pretty good, hpotter  smile  They'd fit the rest of the songs much better. Perhaps I could add some subtle bass lines and fills here and there. DIY, I do agree that jslomba's are a bit too basic, though LSJ was basic in a great way - easily made it one of the best tracks in Crimson Love. I think Flashback and -Ersatz- have the potential to be about as good with little change, though.  smile

I know I've been procrastinating quite a bit with the progress I'm supposed to make on our band's songs, but from now 'till Monday I got loads of stuff to do: Write and record a song with German lyrics for then (a contest which nobody entered - me and my friends get a free trip for little effort  big_smile ), read a book and study it's vocabulary for tomorrow, rehearse with my metal band again and hopefully start coding two projects of mine in Lua.

If Flashback and -Ersatz- can be improved on, they can definitely be considered. I've mixed quite a few of my own songs already, but they're missing vocals.

Do you have any other ideas for original songs, techno? I still have quite a lot coming my way.  smile
