Why do you need WebGL for this though? You can probably make it with standard 2d canvas with a little hacking, right?

Looping through all of the pixels WITHOUT changing pixels values is laggy. With an image this size, days would pass before finishing (jk  tongue ). Just looping through a 32x32 pixel image for color detection is slow.  hmm

Ah yes, webgl is linked almost directly to the graphics card, right? Speed is a problem with JS.  sad

Yeah. I was thinking that I would be possible to run the color detection right on the graphics card. (lol) A bit overkill, but a fun experiment.  tongue

XD If it's worth doing, it's worth over-doing.

I like it too. Yet another inspirational use for the canvas. Nice effects. 2 questions. Does this work on mobile devices, and how did you learn Javascript and HTML5? Ive been learning it myself and have found no good resources.

Not on mobiles because it uses webgl. Maybe in the future.

My suggestion, though you were asking MathWhizz, is to get started with w3schools (as much as I hate it) and then just Google/Forum ask for anything you need to know beyond that.  smile

I've been using w3Schools, and I have finished it. Its not that informative/intuitive so I'm looking for another resource. And bummer about the mobile devices. That's why the player was built (I think), to bring Scratch to other platforms.

Yeah, too bad about that.

If you're done with the w3schools lessons, you ought to visit http://www.html5canvastutorials.com/ for canvas stuff. I can help you get started, if you'd like. Also, the Mozilla developer docs are amazing.

Oh, I didn't notice that you had already mentioned MDN.  tongue
