I was considering creating a new, uncluttered account just for games, but I remembered the name I want for the account is unavailable, as someone who nabbed my character created an account, which is now inactive.
The account almost certainly won't used again as they have had trouble with the moderators, and other users, nor showed much liking or familiarity with this program.
Could this account please be removed? http://scratch.mit.edu/users/Xazo-tak
This is probably the wrong section to put the thread in, but there is no section for making requests of moderators.

Moderators do not have the power to delete an account; that's something that even admins may have to access the database for. Additionally, the Scratch Team does not remove accounts upon request from anyone except the account owner upon verifying the age of the owner.

Mods like me certainly don't have this power; you may want to contact the Scratch Team directly about this. I can't make any promises though.

Very well, I have now sent a message to them.

Do you know the person who took the name?
If so you could also persuade them into handing over the account, if they don't have any projects...

I think usernames are alphanumeric to be URL-compatible. And the letter alpha isn't alphanumeric in English, however ironic that is.

Use a _ instead of -? Add a trailing -? Or make it xazo-tak-reborn? Just some suggestions.

Unless the owner of the account requests for it to be deleted, it's not gonna get deleted.

Yeah, that's what I was pretty much saying.

I'll bet they would.

To actually make it so someone else could sign up with the username, they'd have to manually edit the database, which I don't think they'd do.

That's not what I mean. If the owner did contact the ST with their birthdate they signed up with asking for their account to be closed, their account probably would get deleted.

It wouldn't get completely deleted, there'll still be records of it, so nobody will be able to sign up with the name again even after the account is closed. To completely erase it you have to go into the database and delete it.

Anyway, it's not going to be deleted, so case closed.

What did you mean then?

Just pick another name... That way you don't have to attack admins, or moan at moderators! (I don't mean this literally, I just said it so it rhymed!)
