Loads of people don't delete their messages and this causes the server to slow down, meaning if someone sends you a message, it can take over 10 minutes for you to get the message. Some scratchers even have nearly 100,000 undeleted messages.
I think the only reason people don't delete their messages is because they want to see how many they've got, so next to the amount of comments you've posted (below you're icon), there should be a count of how many you've received. This'll make the server faster.
Sorry if this has been suggested before, I couldn't find anything like it before I posted this

I think messages should automatically delete themselves after being in your "inbox" for a week.
RHY is banned so nobody can go and delete his messages. He must have accumulated over 50,000 by now. If those messages cleaned themselves up nobody would have to worry.
Also I delete my messages whenever I get more than 50.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Although, if you went on holiday for a couple of weeks without internet connection, you'd come back all your messages you'd got on holiday would be deleted.
I always delete my messages when I've read them

Probably RedRocker227 or veggieman001 have surpassed 10'000 messages.

Nah, I have nowhere near that. :p
I wonder if I went away for a year and came back how many I'd have.

Oh, right. I still don't think I've reached that many though.

+1. I always delete after reading.

Yeah, that is a drawback to automatically deleting them.
I used to delete my messages after reading them, but now I delete them every night. I record how many I get, and it makes a cool little graph.

I dunno how many I have, because I delete all the new ones after I read them.
