Banned material from the scratch website is banned for a reason. On the internet there is no way to tell who is who so you never know if a child may be a forty year old man. Also, this website is meant for children so showing the banned material wouldn't be the best thing to do.

You're forgetting two major issues: Parents. And *.
Because this is Earth, and we are humans, and life is corrupt, people will post * on this website. At this moment, any * gets banned immediately, without question. The ability to view this stuff after it's been banned means that it will still be on the website, and people can see it.
Also, the ability to see banned stuff might get parents upset. Upset parents = their sons & daughters can't go on Scratch = significantly reduced community.
So, I'm not quite sure I like this idea

All good points! I think the clincher is that we have no way of telling how old anybody viewing the projects really is so we really need to make sure that all the projects on Scratch are viewable by all ages.
You always have the option of sharing your Scratch projects on other file sharing sites - or you could put together your own website

but one downside to that i dont think we should lock the download thing, it should like maybe have a warning like, say this game has been banned, because contents of so and so and when you read that if you agree than you can continue and download it if not you will just go back to the project like normal

Scratch is meant to be a kid-friendly site, and allowing banned games to be put onto the site completely changes that. They were banned for a reason. I'm sorry, but I don't think this is a very good idea.

I second that this is a bad idea.

This may be a good idea if you change some things, like if you view it, you can't flag it, and a bunch of other stuff, like you can't love it or favorite it. But either way, the Scratch team will never do this... sry. 8(

Make your own site that hosts them.

a way around what all you peeps are saying about not knowing how old anybody is is to have them put in their birth date when they make a profile. which is what youtube has. if anyone thinks this is rude just tell me.

Oh, you're suggestion is not rude at all. Unfortunately, in cases where content is blocked based on age, people often fake their ages to get around an age limit requirement, making the age requirement not very effective.
As Paddle2See said before, the clincher is that Scratch was designed to be an all-ages website, so it needs to be viewable by all ages, including the very young ones who interact with the website.

I Don't agree. Scratch is for kids, and if banned projects could be viewed the they wouldn't be "banned."

"I, sadly, confess that I lied about my age to get into YouTube." - waiting for shocked intake from crowd and the whoosh of heads - - lowering head - "But!" I am saying, in front of a million person wide audience, "My parents let me, so I have no reason to be treated guiltily." - raising head defiantly -

i have to upload them to the website first though to embed them. WHAT IF THEY ARE OVER THE SIZE LIMIT oops sorry accidently hit my caps lock sorry. But i think that when it is banned it should let you only download it not viewable on the site and when you click the download button lets say this game was banned for blood it would say: Warning this game has been banned for blood and violence do you wish you continue, yes, no, cancel. you select yes, it says save or open. you choose open when you open it in scratch their will be a comment from the scratch team saying this game has been banned for blood if below 7 get your parents permission before playing this game. if older than 7 you can continue as you want.

Actually, you don't have to.
The Scratch Team will never let us view deleted games - they've been deleted because they were inappropriate, and that content is unsuitable for the majority of the Scratch community. I think this suggestion is stupid, no offense. If you want to upload projects that are inappropriate for the community go make your own website and follow the method I linked to above.

Some of the projects that were banned are mean to other Scratchers. How would you like it if a mean project was posted, and it hurt your feelings, and the Scratch Team only moved it someplace else where everyone still could see it?

Someone can totally screw it over with a couple of renames + uploads.
Like user1 has some pictures of explicit content (stop using the p word please, call it "explicit content", it covers more for less.) and renames and uploads, then the system will be full of explicit content, and then we have an issue.
Maybe if mods could sort into "get out of here and never come back" and "put this in the pile located hidden so that only the people who are mature and can find it find it" pile.

I've been banned from 45 websites for failing to fake my age.

Nah, Scratch should be as equal as possible, the separation of age groups wouldn't be fair. Not to mention, lets say a 6 year-old wants to see a Star Wars project. Now, Star Wars has violence in it, but even if its just a very basic game, and theres no violence whatsoever in it, the kid wouldn't be allowed to view it. Do you see my point?

oohhh its been a while since this post has been active but i just got a great idea
What if... you can only view your own banned projects. Say user BLANK has a banned project created by BLANK or themself they could implement like if BLANK is the one viewing his project like the disable comments or the check for favoriters that only pops up if it is the users own project .. then you can download it for personal use that way no one else can get it or download it without it being the user who created it.

I don't see any point in seeing your own banned projects.
You won't get any comments, love-its, views, anything. Because of course, your banned.

If you saved the project on your computer you can view it.
