Yeah, OSX comes with this. The question is: who can host, and has a computer that is almost always on?  That's why mass servers/online tools can help.  If none of these options we're juggling can work, we can always go back to a HTML only on weebly - or we can use webs, but the upload tools are annoying and inefficient. I've never used weebly, is there an HTML only mode? The advantage to FTP is that anyone with a login can get in and edit - easily, just like they're files on a hd.  So really, probably nothing free will ever be quite right.

I almost always have my computer on... but I'm not sure if I would be able to host.  I know HTML too so if you need help just ask.  I'm trying to learn css php and javascript too.

What kind of computer is it?  You may be able to host the dev or possibly in development area of our site, if finalish versions go on thebitcomp.webs.com

Its a really slow old computer with XP.

No it has core 2 duo, but I think that's faster than pentinium 4...

core 2 duo is faster then pentinium and your computer should be able to host it.

I'm not sure if that would be the best for the higher traffic part of our site but you could definitely host our lower end part. I can get started with the frame for webs.

Re: The Bit Company (Members Needed!)

Okay, it turns out that webs JUST stopped offering HTML only with the update to their new sitebuilder 3 or whatever. So, we can still make the main page with the sitebuilder and have it redirect to files only - wherever we've put the HTML files. It will take a little bit more work but will still do.
On another note, we have to wait seven days to actually do anything with our site, because a webs site is considered "premature" for seven days until you can upload certain files, rename files, use meta tags (which is how I plan to redirect), etc.

screan shot of our website:
http://i45.tinypic.com/2r6fnld.png

Yeah, I don't know CSS but I'll put it in a table and make it look nice and stuff.  Thinking very pale blue bkg, less distraction, but lots of logos and stuff - and a nice constant footer.  Webs doesn't like php, so sadly, we can't use that to easily include that stuff, but we'll make it work somehow.

I'll learn CSS. and for the background let's use our logo as the background.

Do we really need much JavaScript?  Maybe we all do basic HTML and you specialize in CSS and me in js. Also, do you have dreamweaver?  Perhaps we should set up a FileZilla just for file transfer during development.

Do you want tbc.webs.com or thebitcomp.webs.com?  Both are availible.  Or, we can use thebitcomp and I will make tbc redirect.

Oh, never mind.  Whoops.

Now up!  Sort of.  Experiencing only a few minor technical glitches.  We're at
http://thebitcomp.webs.com/
(copy and paste it, scratch won't let me make a link because I'm "new")

Doesn't redirect yet.  Real site will hopefully be
http://thebitcomp.webs.com/s/
but I'm, again, experiencing only a few minor technical glitches.

Hope to have it actually up soon!
