In the meantime, I suggest this much for Sunny Daze: Not only is it eternal night, but the game starts out with the hero having amnesia. His motivation throughout the game is to find out who he is and where he came from. This results in him traveling and doing quests for people and stuff. There's the beginnings of a storyline.
