The Lost Demo

I have poured a bucket full of perserverence, frustration, humiliation, and chicken fingers into a pan called scratch. The result is The Lost, a point and click adventure which can be previewed here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/LifeLaster/2657738.

The story so far:

You play as James, an amnesiac who wakes up with a lump on his head, and a note on the floor. The note writer's name is not to be seen, grafiti covers part of the wall, and the door is boarded up.

What happened before (WARNING: EXTREME SPOILERS!):

The year is 2008, James Wilkons and Caroline C'Vo, a widow whose husband died in a car accident not two months ago, left their adopted son, Lucas, without a home or an employed family member. James stepped in as the father when he heard that Caroline's husband passed. James and Caroline went to high school together, they both participated in Power of the Pen, and knew eachother well. They got home to their new house on the hillside, it was a small home, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a kitchen and an attic. James opened the door for the first time.

Carol: Wow, this is a nice shade of white.

James: *feeling the rail of the staircase* Smooth, too.

Lucas: *wandering about the first floor* It's a little small, don't you think?

Carol: *Shutting the door* It's what we can afford, remember; James has a low-paying job.

Lucas: Can't he just work more?

James: It doesn't work like that.

Carol: *Gesturing James out of the way, moving upstairs*

Lucas: Humph,, at least Robert had a good job. (Play the game for Robert's identification)

James: *looking as Lucas walks upstairs*... ... ... Don't let him get to you, James, he barely knows you. *walks slowly into kitchen* This place feels, empty...

The family lived in peace for two weeks, over time, Carol felt the house getting tighter, though it never changed, eventually, therapy was required, she told of demons,  demons that she could see as dark figures, but when she looked at them, they went away. one night after a fight over Lucas...

James: You don't even know me! I haven't showed you ME, you don't know who I really AM!

Carol: Go to [heck]! *runs upstairs into bedroom, locking door*

James: ... God, what came over her...*looks at drawer in kitchen* Hey, why is that open? My steak knife, dear lord!

Lucas: *from upstairs* DAD!

James: [*]! Lucas! *sprints upstairs*

Carol: They told me to, they said a sacrifice would give me a better life, I'm sorry.

James: *watches in total horror*

Lucas: DAAAAAAAD!

Carol:*plunges steak knife deep into Lucas' heart*

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Since that night, James was never seen, Carol and Lucas' body were missing, and James had no memory of it at all. He woke up to see a note on the floor next to a boarded up door.
