I suggest you wait until Scratch 2.0. It will have Cloud Variables (variables which change for everyone).
An example of Cloud Variables:
A project is which colour do you like better, red or green?
The variables are:
Red: 4
Green: 6
If someone votes for green, it changes to 7, and everyone sees it as 7. This makes multiplayer easier, and you can even play multiplayer on two different computers online.
