Okay, so there was this interesting post by Lightnin on the Scratch Wiki page about the disappearing text bug, it said this:
Lightnin wrote:
I believe this bug only affects Windows users, and may be related to Windows Unicode libraries.
That got me thinking, is that true. I use a Mac, and I have tried to get the bug, to see what it looks like, but I tried lists, and other programs opened while using scratch, and I never got the bug.
So, is this true. Right down below what OS you are using, and say if you have ever got the bug.

This is a pretty quick jump to conclusions.

It isn't really a conclusion, it is just a thought. And if doesn't seem right, then I will close this topic.

I've never gotten it on Windows (7, Home Premium), and i haven't made anything big enough on Ubuntu to even have a chance.

Whenever I reproduce it (purposefully and even sometimes when I'm not meaning to) it's when I have lots of big scripts and a LOT of sprites with text, and usually I have at least a couple of operators. Here's how I always reproduce it:
1. Draw a bunch of sprites with text.
2. Make them have long scripts with a lot of operators.
3. Click the green flag.
4. The text should disappear. If you don't see text disappear, make some more sprites.
I don't often get the bug when I am using lists. I'm pretty sure the bug is something tied to RAM and memory usage, but I don't know for sure.

I have Windows Vista (Home premium v 6.0 service pack 1)
and I get it ALL the time.
As I remember, it happened here 2-3 times
and also on the project I'm working on, 3 times.
It usually happened when I was uploading, saving, or moving big scripts;
maybe sqeak's memory is low.

Theory disproved. I got it on Linux, in the form of cropping costume text.

I reproduced it at the library earlier today. THe computers there are LINUXES.
Maybe it's only non-Macs?
