Scratch 3D concept

Okay, you know how people try to make 3D scratch projects? It's not too easy, until now, I've been thinking of a version of scratch, only it's main purpose is to create 3D projects! Make FPS games with ease, design a space exploratin game, the possibilities of scratch went from endless, to beyond imaginable. To further blow your mind, I wrote this on my 3DS browser! Please respond on what you think of the idea. Scratch On!

Please read this until the end, because at some point, you will get a clue on the mystery, what mystery you may ask? Well, you will find the answer in the beginning, if you miss it, read it again, maybe you will find my treasure, who knows, it's hidden in the middle, you wanna know where in the middle it is? Check the end.

Re: Scratch 3D concept

So you're telling me that MIT has the resources to make an entire 2D program, plus a motion control system from LEGOS, and a lab for computer engineering... but they can't make scratch 3D? I can't seem to wrap my head around this nonsense.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Scratch is supposed to be a basic introduction into programming, I think 3D would overcomplicate it.

Re: Scratch 3D concept

There are many block-based programs that support 3D graphics, StarLogo and Alice are among the simplest ones. Game Maker too, though it's not free to use. It may take training, and time to get used to it, but most programmers end up learning different languages for different purposes after all.  wink

Re: Scratch 3D concept

You do realize that they already have Scratch 6D and 8D? 6D engine, 6D maze game, 8D engine.
And anyway, you can just make a raycaster/3D renderer if you want scratch 3D.

Re: Scratch 3D concept

What is with people and 3D?  I dont support, it will make scratch that much bigger, and projects will take longer to load.
