hey,
with the new scratch 2.0 version coming out i was wondering if you would be able to save your scratch games as .swf files so that you can upload your game to flash game portals. please respond.

Is there any news on a more accurate date to when scratch 2.0 will be released.

No, the Scratch Team will not create a way for users to save Scratch projects in the .swf format officially. However, our pal jji7skyline made an awesome tutorial on how to save sb files to the app, exe, and jar file formats but unofficially, which may or may not work in version 2.0. You can find his tutorial here.
As far as the date 2.0 will be released, refer to this quote by Lightnin posted 4 days ago:
"Later this year - but not in the next two months for sure - longer than that but I don't know how long. But I hope we'll be ready at some point later in this year." -Lightnin
