1.2.1 and 1.3.1 don't contain any new features. They just fix bugs in the old versions.
1.4 will likely have some bugs, which would call for a 1.4.1, but there is no sure bet that 1.4.1 will ever exist. Even if it does, it won't contain any new features.

When will scratch 1.4 be out? I've been waiting so long for it to finally come out.

Re: What will be in scratch 1.5

I'm not sure what else I could want from Scratch—I like it just how it is already!
Though, I could see a few improvements—I think Scratch 1.4 is actually going to be pretty neat. 8)

Yeah, I wanna, hehe!

How about Scratch version 3.5, ten years from now? Here's my top five wish list for that:

(5) let there be many other applications/programming languages like Scratch
(4) let there be a standardized interface for other applications to plug into Scratch
(3) let there be more multimedia content manipulateable by / like Scratch
(2) let Scratch be the pick of choice for all beginners
(1) let Scratch still be around  smile

(sorry if this is slightly off-topic...)

No, the 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.3 pattern is not arbitrary.
The first digit (v1.1.1) means major changes have been made to the product, like if Scratch's interface was switched to a text-based thing. When new things are being made and are rapidly evolving, this number will change often. Scratch has not yet made any "first-digit" changes.
The second digit (v1.1.1) means significant changes have been made, like the addition of lists. These are good for routine updates that shake things up a bit, and you will generally find one or two new concepts in these changes, but nothing you can't handle.
The third digit (v.1.1.1) means something might have been a little wonky with a second-digit update, and this is being fixed. If lists didn't hide properly, then the next third-digit change would probably focus on fixing this problem. If everything was perfect with a second-digit update, a third-digit update probably wouldn't be necessary before the next second-digit update.
Sorry if this makes no sense, but I just thought I should explain that!  tongue

Re: What will be in scratch 1.5

Well several things,

1. There needs to be a better way to make things bounce off something other than the edge of the screen. Not just <if on edge, bounce>.

2. There needs to be a way to round a number to the nearest 5, 10, 100, ect.

3. Also there needs to be alpha channels to make something partly transparent but not all of it, like a .png or something.

4. There needs to be a "if sprite1 asks _ then do something" or "if sprite1 says/thinks _ then do something.

Hopefully these can be added before 1.4 comes out officialy or at least in 1.5!

You can, What you have to do is first make the file into an mp3 (by right clicking and then press convert to mp3 (or something like that)) then you have to go into scratch, go into music then press import, find the music file go into it, go into itunes then press itunes music and find the artist and find the song.

You *can* do it on a mac - I have a vague recollection of doing it on my mac.
Plus, iTunes files are unorthodox.

and thats only if you bought it in the past month or so or from iTunes Plus (or updated your library) other wise, you're screwed.

Actually, the releases with .1, .2, etc. at the end are just small upgrades.
For instance, in 1.3.1, there was no longer any literal rendering of input codes in variable blocks, as there was in 1.3.

However, there will not always be just a .1, then the next version.
The full history as I know it is:
0.1
0.2
~~~
1.0
1.0.1
1.0.2
1.1
1.2beta
1.2
1.2.1
1.3
1.3.1
1.4 release candadate
Actually, there have been first digit changes.
Although it was never released to my knowledge, they started with 0.1, then 0.2.
The first official release was 1.1, but there were still 1.0, 1.0.1, and 1.0.2 before it.
Well, one of these is in Streak already.
The round block is changed to (round () to nearest ()).
The alpha channel idea is good; and one I've heard often.
It will be possible when sub-sprites come out in Streak.
[these are like a sprite inside a sprite. So, the parent sprite is like a stage for the sub sprite: if the parent moves, so does the child, but the child can move within the parent.] What you could do with this is to make the child semi transparent. Of course,  if the child starts out as Alpha: 50, the parent 100, and the parent sets itself to 50, the child will now be 25!
Re: What will be in scratch 1.5
IT's cool that you can have user input. it would rock if ou could have multiple input boxes.
I also hate it when you do if touching () broadcast ()
Then I add something to a list or change a variable and it goes on forever!!
