Why am I bothered by the fact everything Apple makes lately seems to be ridicolously thin? 

EDIT: The fact that it's apparently Flash-based is also quite interesting, I never thought a computer would run faster with it's architecture based on it.

Flash memory is very stable, and much safer than HDDs.

Heck, I look forward to benchmarks of the new Air. Last year's Sandy Bridge refresh ensured that it had a decent processor, but this year's refresh has an even better processor, as well as removing the only limitations to my wanting an air: small RAM and SSD options. Now I think it's truly a legitimate primary computer.

I don't really know; I don't have much experience with owning laptops and I don't like using them very much.

Personally I prefer laptops for all but the most demanding purposes such as serious gaming, professional video rendering, etc. For all my purposes, (Minecraft, TF2, Portal 2 are the maximum uses) I can operate perfectly fine on a portable laptop with integrated graphics.

I prefer desktops just because they're not so small and compact.

I don't find that size matters. As long as I can see what is says I'm fine.

I just don't really like how the keyboard is so compact on laptops.

Oh the keyboard. Yeah, I can understand that. But I get used to it and I tend to find desktop ones are too sticky-outty. O.o Probably just the ones I've tried.
