Too old for WeDo? - Lego Mindstorms and the Enchanting Scratch mod

Just a friendly mention so you won't have to search as much as I did:

Scratch can be used for Lego WeDo. But WeDo is a bit "age limited" and Lego has another product for constructing more advanced robots named "Lego Mindstorms NXT"

...unfortunately Scratch does not support this BUT with the Enchanting mod, it does!

Easy question:
#1: BYOB or Scratch code for sending one byte over the serial port
#2: BYOB or Scratch code for receiving one byte over the serial port

No checking - not even parity.
