Hi. I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 32-bit using Virtualbox, and I am completely satisfied except for one problem which has apparently plagued others: my mouse's scroll wheel (middle mouse button) doesn't make anything scroll. Pressing it works, and it works fully well on my host OS. I'm told by Google that my problem is that the scroll wheel turning gets lost in the event handling, and every once in a while (like 1/10,000) it will work (which it does) because of this, but that doesn't make it any less non-working (more working, for those of you easily confused). Does anyone know of a fix?

Why didn't you install the latest one which is Ubuntu 12 or something? It might have fixed the bug.
Also, are you sure you have all the drivers installed? Many mice are plug and play, however their scroll wheels need separate drivers.
Other than that, try turning mouse capturing off. Minecraft on virtual box needs it turned off anyway

Um I just downloaded the latest version which I thought was 10.10. Checking ISO file now. Oh, sorry, it's actually 12.04. As for drivers, I never installed any drivers for the guest or host OS, and it has always worked fine on the host (sometimes scrolling up registers as scrolling down, but I think that's unrelated). Also, it is miraculously starting to work, though still unreliably. So uh, this thread suddenly got less important. I would rather like to know why middle-clicking Googles something random from my browsing history, though. Right now, it googles the last few words of my last forum post. After posting, it's 'es, t'.

Turn mouse pointer capturing off. It should be on the bottom right hand corner of your virtual machine window.
What's your host OS?

Have you got VirtualBox Guest Additions installed? That usually fixes mouse problems for me when using virtualisation software.

My host OS is Windows 7 64-bit. Also, I haven't and don't know how to install the guest additions.
