Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

I forgot to mention what the blob achieves. When the blob returns he is awarded with advancement from private to commander.

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

I like the way this game is sounding and as a suggestion we could make a series out of this.

Another strength of mine -- I can help revise the storyline, instructions, and basically test the projects we make as if I were a random person. I can also have some of my friends and family test them and critique as well.

Currently working on the uploading site, I'll let you all know when it's finished.

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

Nice ideas, zuwel! I certainly think a leveling skill system would be a cool idea if it's an RPG, but if it's not an RPG that would probably be odd--but I don't know if it's an RPG or not, please update us liquidmetal?

Maybe the blob( I think the player should write his/her name in the beginning)1-was sent by a general to a world with different creatures and his objective was to obtain a precious weapon that could possibly destroy entire galaxies in one hit of a button. When you land you have a ally that tells you what your going to go through and you go into battle. after you pass all the levels to get to the weapon you then have to meet up with a ally pilot who will get you out. I'm not experienced that much on scratch but is that possible to do?
I'll give more scenario's if you don't except this one.

Good Idea in general; it justifies the puzzles, obstacles, and enemies, but...
Why does the general want the weapon?

zuwel wrote:

So do I.  That means we have to make a level system, I guess based on speed of movement, type of attack, and rate of attack, and evade speed? anything else?

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

All right, so that makes it an RPG. That's that.  tongue

Usually RPGs don't use guns, though...  hmm

If we use warrior weapons, archer weapons, or even mage weapons and other types of stuff... eh, I don't know. I have a hard time seeing guns in an RPG, because the stats of your character would be like power, speed, stamina, magic (if included), defense, hitpoints, mana points (special abilities and/or magic)... things like that.

A level system would be nice, and I was also thinking of a store where you can upgrade/repair your weapons (and possibly armor?).

I don't think it has to be an RPG for skills.  Rpg means role playing game.  For example, I would have a choice between playing as a Warrior, Magician, or Archer.  Right?
In our system, your role will be pre-assigned.  The point of the levels would be to decide when you can use certain guns, and how strong or weak you are (compared to the enemies).

The one thing about levels was I was hoping to make some of the obstacles puzzles - so what would levels help there? Or could we have separate, non-combat levels? But what would those be?

Good Idea! We could make a series of games, where he gets promoted at the end of each to the next rank.  This would mean we would need an introductory story, and each game will continue the introductory storyline.

A couple questions:
Of what race is the blob?
Why do they have an army?
What do they do with their army?

No! Not an RPG!!!

Another difference: in an RPG, you can choose what to do next.  In our game, you have a set path of goals.

WOW!
A lot happened in the past 10 minutes.  I'll be able to write a ll project description in a day or two!

Am I able to change the password? If so, just set to something basic and tell me here.  If not, I'll have to remember the password to my email...

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

Well, no, you can't. If you want, I can make up some account details and email them to you, but if you want to make your own then yes, I'll need you to send them by email. Not making a registration form, too much work. LOL

Or I suppose we could have a community login, just one username and password. There's really no difference, so that's another idea.

Oh, just reread your comment. Man, I should work on my comprehension skills.
Uhh.. Remember your yahoo password?

Thats the problem.  I think I can get into my old yahoo account though, I'll try that, though it is filled with spam.

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

for question 1-"what race is the blob of".The blob is part of the A. Sacoos B. Leensi C. Paro race(I just took those names from the top of my head. choose what you think sounds good). They have a army to protect there galaxy, so there the main race there. At some points some planets in the 18 planet galaxy get upset at the amount of land they get and the blobs have to solve those problems. There the peace keepers and so when war is close to happening the two sides look at the blobs to solve this before the war because no one likes war, but now the galaxy excepts a new race that is endangered so now wars can happen at any time and now the neighboring planet to the blobs wants some of the blobs planet but the blobs planet is full enough of blobs on the street so when the planet threatens war there no looking up just ahead to blood and screams. When the war breaks loose the enemy gets hold of a weapon that was in a overrun base on the blobs planet(Why dont we call the planet blosa or something because blobs planet is not the best sounding planet in a galaxy) so the blobs have to get it back(is it possible to make a multiplayer game because if it was it would be epic) no matter what or 23 races including the blobs will vanish forever. Is that a good background for the series?

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

I don't really like the interstellar thing.  It doesn't fit in with what I have in mind for the project.  I was thinking of something on this earth. (Past, present or future? Idk.)

P.S.  You mean't their galaxy (possesive), they're the peace keepers (they are conjunction).  There would be "there is a place."

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

ok so make it like a future war the blob is the human. because of natural disasters the world is desperate. each country is breaking down at a dangerous pace. Now europe believes that america is holding back on food donations to the continents and now they threaten to attack if they dont give Europe's people a meal. The truth is americas starving just like Europe and they are not hoging food but Europe is certain and then war breaks loose. they discover a weapon that supposedly destroys entire countries. The mission is to destroy the weapon and get out of there before the base goes on full alert. Does this meet your expectations.

I don't think it should be that violent.

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

How is this:
1952, the cold war.
You are agent [name]. You are a spy working for the intelligence branch of the [Russian?] military. Some rumors have been passed around that the [Americans?] have obtained a new aircraft that could infiltrate and bomb Russia without any difficulty at all. You have been assigned the task of discovering if these rumors are true, find the aircraft, and disable it.

Re: Summer of Scratch Collab

That is a good storyline but what if you could choose a side, I mean all of the people on scratch stretch far so some might want to play a different role as american.

That would be a cool feature... I was just thinking you could be Russian because everything else on the internet makes you american.
