So I've noticed a lot of people are making Python SCratchchats, but this is simpler.

Read the site! It'll tell you the different channels and what they are. And be sure to check out the creators of IRC freenode chat, http://webchat.freenode.net/
Enjoy! I will be on at 6:30 PM tonight (PST) to check on the chatboard.

Freenode and most other chats are pretty much the same. They have rooms/channels and authentication/authority levels.
The main reason why Freenode is easier to use, is because it is already made and it's been developed for many years by large, experienced teams. Where-as most chats here on Scratch are built by one or two (possibly inexperienced) programmers, built in Scratch (or using another language to interact with Scratch). Which I consider a good achievement for anyone who's done it.
So that's the main reason why people create chats in Scratch. For the achievement.
