in the game "little big planet 2" which is based mostly on level creation, there is an option to find a number of random levels from all those existing. there should be something like that on scratch, under "projects" at the top. you should be able to specify how old the project is and how many projects you want to be displayed

maybe theres a more fitting title for this, when most people hear "random" they think "sfsdfdasfdgsdagasdfsdgsdfsdfdsfa" instead of what it actually means

There used to be something like that, but it was removed because of the possibility of an inappropriate project being selected, I believe.
The page is still around, it's just not easily accessible. I'll see if I can find it.

Oh yeah, I sort of forgot to search for it. Oh well, Freezing's linked to it anyway now.

hmm i see
still i think the button should be moved in with those you get under the "projects" tab to make it more apparent and reachable

im not sure if it's that necessary
because most of the projects on there are from like 2+ years ago

It doesn't seems like many people want this feature implemented into the main site, so perhaps you can just bookmark that surprise page or something?

I think scratch should a random page button. It would be good for times when your really bored. Please reply if you agree

I think this is a rough draft of an actual good idea! But may I please add on?
First off, I don't think it should be a "random page" button. I think it should be more like depending on what kind of page you're on. That's very confusing (at least to my standards. ) so I'll clarify and give an example.
Say you're on a page that's.. let's say viewing a gallery. Instead of a "random project" or "random post" button, it would be a "random gallery" button. So it would really depend on what type of thing you are viewing at the moment.
And I think that you should be able to choose weather or not you want you're project to be randomly viewed. Because let's say it's a screamer, somebody could "just be bored" and view the project. The project creator can configure the project and change weather or not it gets randomly viewed or not.
Also, this idea is great because it gives a lot of projects a chance to be viewed.
Although, it's a rough chance that your project will be viewed over like, a million projects. But it's all luck I guess.
With a little bit of thinking, I think this suggestion can turn into a splendid idea.
Support.
