Yours has done neither.
And I wouldn't be so mad if you didn't go around saying "'Nuff said" like we're all supposed to love her.

You mad?

My opinion not yours. Okay? This HAS had and impact on music Mr. Know-it-all. Stop fighting.

Not fighting, debating.

If you could give evidence of it's impact I'll stop right now.

Yeah and World War II was just a conflict.

Well, it went quadruple platinum.
It was on the chart for 39 weeks.
It was off of Nicki Minaj's first album. (Which in fact was a huge success)
Shall I say more?

Because a debate about music is definitely on par with one of the biggest and saddest wars in history. Something discussing what we consider the 500 greatest songs is pretty much begging for discussion, and the discussion will inevitably be the merits of a song.
There's no point in this if all we're going to do is list some songs then leave.

And a song becoming popular does not mean that it has a huge impact on music. It just means . . . at one point in time it was popular. Listen to a local (or XM) channel that plays classic rock. Yeah, you'll see great well-known stuff like Elton John and Bon Jovi, but you'll also see songs everyone has forgotten about. And once you hear them you'll probably know why. They were popular at the time but only suited for that time period. There was nothing lasting about them.

Super Bass is pretty well known . . . right now. Who knows if it'll last. I'm not saying I know but I'm saying we can't really decide if it's in the top 500 right now.

Yeah, I know and while I haven't heard a lot of stuff on the list I would say Club Can't Handle Me and Forever don't deserve a place on the list either.

And we agree on Call Me Maybe.  smile

Well I don't really see how that impacts music. Take the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles for example. It opened up an entire world of rock to be explored, and kind of defined the entire genre, setting the pace for bands to continue all throughout the 70s and 80s. That song's silly chart thingies or whatever kind of pale in comparison imho :I

This. That's why I chose some of the songs I did; "Strange" by Wire is on a very influential album, Pink Flag, during the art punk movement and has influenced alternative, post-punk, art rock, and many other genres. Likewise, the Godspeed You! Black Emperor song/piece I chose is a good example of post-rock.

Super bass is not that bad of a song. But call me maybe gets old after a while. Did anyone see the CRJ fanvideo? 0__0

Anyways, back on topic, lets start suggesting songs.
