Some screamers can be kind of fun - maybe there is a bit of a loud noise and a funny picture suddenly appears; those are fine. A little surprise can be enjoyable.
However, the ones that show some really bloody or gross picture combined with a loud scary scream are too intense for some Scratchers and shouldn't be on the Scratch site - please flag them. If you like to make that kind of project, keep them on your own computer and scare your friends at Halloween - but please don't share them on the siteYea. I'm FINE with screamers that aren't all gross and scary, but I've seen...others. If it's a tic tac toe game on the internet, I like to take caution.
Oh ive seen that one.
there are multiple ones, so maybe u saw another one

For about the 16th time, I've seen a new project with a thumbnail as that creepy long haired zombie thing.
Gosh, I don't think I can even browse the front page anymore without seeing darn Screamer pictures.

Some people, though, are really timid and get scared easily.
Therefore screamers would scare them.

Wow, u guys are kinda uptight. I just joined here but I can say that I love a good screamer here and there. Sure it might be slightly scary at 1st; eventually u get used to it and (don't flame me) u gotta admit how hilarious the re actions are.
though i will admit, if ur goin for re actions, i like satire better

Oh, in that case i will admit that exposin 5 yr olds to screamers is pretty bad tho if they do intend to be on the internet when there older they need to learn that there'll be screamers.
I think this websight should have a ratin system so that like on youtube when their are dislikes you know they are screamers or something not worth watching at all. b4 anyone opposes that idea i used the search engine and will post my suggestion in the sugestion forum with some invisions.

It's true that screamers are almost to the point of being inappropriate, but does this thread really belong in the New Scratchers forum?
Good question? Maybe a moderator should move it.

Actually, I have my volume on mute when I'm doing anything on the computer, unless it very clearly has music in it (Death waltz played on synthesia or a Naruto episode, for example).

Some thread somewhere said that five-star ratings (or anything similar) would not be allowed because new scratchers may become discouraged if someone rates their project a 0, and might quit scratch.
I actually was wondering... Would a screamer, except with a scratch cat, gobo, or similar scratch sprite as the "scary image" be alright on the website/to upload? Instead of being scary, it would just be a suprise.

That's fine. Screamers with scary pictures are usually frowned upon around here, but good surprises are okay.

Kids who get like 20 thumbs down for every one thumb up will probably fall into depression or something (scratch team reasoning) And the number of people who quit each week is already pretty high (though most of them don't mean it)

I don't mind screamers too much, though I definitely wouldn't say that I like them.
and now for somethin off-topic:

uh
well I know nobody will read that essay though I still think it addresses some of the issues with the starred ratings decently. I still think it's better that kids learn to face criticism early.

You aren't supposed to use swears anyway, it's part of the guidelines.
And why would you spell out the word? You can get in trouble for that..
(Even though it's censored, you can still see if you quote.)
