I'm a New Scratcher, and I have over 100 posts. And I signed up over two months ago.
Edit: I just became a Scratcher! However, I don't know how to make a siggy yet...

Not true, you have to have posted in the forums. Maybe he was from a long time ago, either from before the New Scratcher status or they promoted him because he joined many months ago, even though he had a small amount of posts.OHHHHHH..... I stand corrected. That's a newbie for ya But I was saying not true to him because he said he would have over nine thousand posts before he gets to the scratcher status, which I thought was probably not true. And i just THOUGHT that you had a lot of projects you get to the scratcher status. i wasn't trying to state a fact.
It's better to have projects, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a difference. After all, this is the forums
And I'm sure he was just using OVER NINETHOUSAND to just say he's going to need to post a lot, not literal.
Over ninethousand as a New Scratcher, without posting in Misc, that'd be hard
The Misc forum was removed in late January 2012.

At first I hardly used the forums, and didn't know much about the "status" at all. I came on the forums ~2 months later and I was a "Scratcher." I only made 3-5 posts before that, but I commented alot on projects.

No, you'll be promoted by the Scratch Team when you are active enough and don't flame too much. I know some of my posts may be rather spam-like, but I posted lots of projects, and favorited projects and added LoveIts. I also made many posts, so now I'm a Scratcher.

My report:
Age: About 2.9 months
Number of posts: Over 100
Number of projects: 15 (exactly)
Number of favorites: 15 (12 as of time of promotion)

I'm a scratcher with a new account, I've forgotten all about the cant-post-your-own-topic thing. It really bugs me, but I just have to be patient.

You'll probably have to have around 200-300 posts before being a Scratcher. I mean, it's not official, it could be more, it could be less, but that's what I'm estimating. So, if that happened, don't make a thread complaining. Just post some more, and the ST will notice you've been on the site for quite a while, and probably promote you.
On What ?

Finally updating.
Check out this cool guide by JJRocker after reading this if you're not completely sure you understood it (It's more resumed ).
So, random New Scratcher, before you make a new topic asking how to get rid of it, I'd recommend reading this.
Chapters:
1.) Why it's here
2.) How to get rid of it
3.) Things that will make you have less chances of getting rid of it
4.) For people that have been on for like 5 months and still aren't Scratchers
1: Why it's here
_____________________________________
There was once a day, a peaceful day, where not too many moderators were online. Then came quite a big wave of trolls posting images of very inappropriate stuff. Eventually, though, many moderators and Scratch Team members came, though, and deleted everything. Since then, the ST decided to put this rank, making people not be able to link, post images, etc. (And have to wait 180 seconds to prevent spamming without images or links, such as commercial spam).
2: How to get rid of it
_____________________________________
Be active on the forums, and the site. Truly, I don't think comments are very important, but posting a couple of projects would probably be a little boost. And by active on the forums, I don't mean posting 50 times will get you the rank. I mean, be active for around a month, if you post a lot every day, though in almost every case it'll take one month or more (Sometimes it's less, though. I'm not sure why, but people like 4lover got promoted in 2 days). And when I mean post a lot, I don't mean hundreds of "lolz" "roflcopterz!" "Cool story bro!" I mean, helpful comments. Welcome other New Scratchers, try helping out All About Scratch and Advanced Topics (If you understand enough to, of course). And also, if you have a question about Scratch, post it in All About Scratch. If it's about PHP, HTML, etc., post it in Advanced Topics. But as that isn't necessarily related, I'll go on to the next chapter.
3: Things that will make you have less chances of getting rid of it
_____________________________________
Posting a topic saying, "Can I be a Scratcher now?" will probably not change anything (If not for worse), and it'll just annoy people. Just be patient. It isn't that bad, you can post links like http://www.google.com, just not disguise it in text other than the link itself. Posting negative posts (And comments) is bad as well. For example, if somebody posts a project that isn't good, don't say "This sucks.". Give constructive criticism-And don't say stuff like "This sucks, I can make it better if you'd like." or "This sucks, you should add powerups.", put stuff like, "It's okay, but I think it'd be better if it had powerups.". Stuff like that. Also, never say bad words. And when I mean bad words, I mean some not-too bad words. I can't post them, of course, but even if you think it's not a bad word, think about it. People of 7 years old might be reading your post. And also, don't post stuff that has nothing to do with anything until you're a full Scratcher. For example, posting a Minecraft topic in New Scratchers because you can't post where it goes is bad.
4: For people that have been on for like 5 months and still aren't Scratchers
_____________________________________
Okay. You've been on for 5 months, and you posted like, 5 posts a month. "Why am I not a Scratcher?" you may ask. Well, it's simple-If somebody only posted 25 times, the Scratch Team wouldn't have found them and put them as a Scratcher, or can't trust them yet, as they've been very inactive.
(Note: Now, after reading posts on this thread a while, it's possible it promotes New Scratchers to Scratchers automatically after a month. You might need some projects, though. I'm not entirely sure, so just post and make projects, just in case. And moderators, please tell me if it's automatic, or what are the requirements, so I can make the thread better)
And I guess that's that. If you have anything for me to add, please suggest. And any constructive criticism about the writing is greatly appreciated
My friends have been on longer than me, and I think they're still new scratchers. How is that even possible?!

I've been on Scratch a long time (just not the forums) - I think that must be why.
I have 5 posts but im a scratcher!
