Very good friendly advice XD

I know, it would be hilarious if a newbie came along and said "That is good advice, I will try that". But then the ban hammer would fall and they would be sad, so maybe not so funny XD

Re: How to get famous, the real way

Here are my tips:
1) Share Scratch with your IRL friends! They will give you inspiration for good projects.
2) Get curated. If you make a really awesome project, curation is a great way to get to the front page!
3) Be friendly. Post nice and helpful comments on projects in the newest projects section and people will remember you.
4) SDS. The DS is a great way to find inspiration for projects.

So long, 1.4.

A simpler way:

1. Create a good (original) project.
2. Advertise it everywhere.

step 3: Thirdly only try and get fame if you think you deserve it,because I get really annoyed when loads of terrible projects get on the front page like someone pretends to make a good project and then tricks people and overall, A few awesome projects is always better than a google pointless projects, it's a waste of time on scratch and in the real world.

step 4: Fourthly be nice and follow the community guidlines, you won't get fame if you are horrible

final step: Don't expect fame straightaway, you will get fame gradually, only a few scratchers have got it straightaway like fulldroid etc, but I don't reccomend taking a big leap, try getting it within like a year or so, it's reasonable and deserving, and most of the time, if new scratchers got fame, they probably didnt deserve it.

Erm... I disagree with most of this. Let me give it a shot!  smile

Lots of people who are new to scratch can only care about fame, & being the best. Most people that think directly about that don't usually become famous. I have a great guide to becoming famous, starting at the point of a new scratcher, going to a well known, & friendly member of the community!
When you're new to the community, you don't know anyone. You're lost and confused. When I joined Scratch on my first account in 2010, I felt this way. However, I came to know the community in a different way, & I now consider myself semi-famous, though fame wasn't my goal. Anyways, the first step would be going to the scratch forums, & clicking on the New Scratchers forums. This is a great place to introduce yourself, & ask any basic questions you have (all other questions go in the Questions About Scratch Forum)! After this, I'd recomend trying to make your first project! Once you upload it, your project can be seen by others, & they can give feedback! If you want to become more advanced, but don't know much about programming, you can find what you need in the Help With Scrpits Forum!
After being active & polite on the main site & the forums, you'll notice that your forum rank has changed from New Scratcher to Scratcher! Once you're at that spot, you'll most likely be more well known around the community. Remember, this will take time, so be patient.  wink
Sooner or later, you'll become even more active on both the main site & the forums! You'll probably know more about programming, & know the community better, as the community may start to know you more!
I've noticed that this process helps New Scratchers blossom, & I hope it helps whoever's reading this! Scratch On!  wink

Re: How to get famous, the real way

Another way to get famous, (I've seen it a lot) is to get a very simple game and adding a few cool features. If you look at RedRocker227's unpredictable, I'm guessing it started out as a very basic project. Maybe just a ball bouncing on two pads. Then he add an accurate bouncing system, an "animated" title screen with different difficulties that seem hard to program, but are in fact easy, and a score with a formula and out of the boring white and orange variable colors. It turned from a boring ball bouncing on two pads into an exciting, difficult, game.
Some features to add too games to make it better
***Title Screen*** (very important)
- variables out of the default variable system
- accurate physics
- befitting music
- if possible, a few 3-d things

Some of these things may seem hard to program, but if you go to the wiki, other people's projects, or just piece it out in your mind, you'll find that those things are as easy as making the game itself.

That's pretty much spot on TBH. It started off as an extremely simple game (well actually it was more like a minigame at that point), and then I just kept coming up with more improvements, such as coins, a title screen, etc..

I noticed it, but I instinctively thought "AH WALL OF TEXT, RUN AWAY!", and skipped it xD

I'll read it now :3

EDIT: Yeah that's pretty true actually. Especially the part about New Scratchers who set becoming famous their goal not getting anywhere.

Re: How to get famous, the real way

Or maybe it's just luck.
Because my first project, I just didn't expect it to even get 10 views. But then somehow (I didn't advertise either.) it suddenly got 20 views.  yikes
I checked again later and I had 100. It wasn't on the front page, but it was in the top viewed section.

Another (more recent) time, I had Jonzo advertise my project and KingFanta advertise another (And the thing is I didn't even ask them either O.o) and they both got a lot of views.

So sometimes it's just luck.
Or somebody who just likes your projects.  smile

You know, Scratch isn't about fame. It's about giving people experience before they move on to more advanced programming languages. Sure, it's always good to be famous, but if you only join to become famous, you're not gonna get very far.

But anyway, you also need to be really active in the forums as well. That's probably the only way I got... Semi-famous, because if you post 70+ times a day, people are bound to click your username more.

I have to agree. To tell you the truth, fame really only comes in your own eyes. If other people see you as famous, like people see Nicofreak  and sydney(can't remember numbers) , then you're gonna see yourself as famous. The only problem with being famous is you will have a bunch of followers and very few REAL friends.

But If you really do wanna be famous, here's four good things to add into 3 or more of your projects:
1.explosions
2.animals(mainly cats)
3.stick figures
4.DO SOMETHING ORIGINAL
If your are just taking someone's front paged idea, then it won't get front-paged because people will get bored because they've already seen this project before. Let other projects TEACH you how to do funny stuff, not copying them.
Another thing. It's very hard to remember some scratcher's names because they have a lot of numbers tacked on to their names. I've had several instances where i have thought a scratcher's work was great, but i can't search for them because I can't remember the numbers.
And one last thing: PARTICIPATE. the best way to get famous is to participate in art trades, requests, coloring contests, etc. If you do that, more people are likely to click on your projects if they are thinking, "oh, this famous person likes this scratcher's art, so it MUST be good," and then they click on it. also when you're going to enter a coloring contest, etc, make sure you have a good THUMBNAIL. People are more likely to look at something that says "art and an announcement" than "An announcement". And if someone sees a bunch of words for a thumbnail, it'll look more boring, so people won't click on it, as to a thumbnail with great art on it, people will be more interested, and more likely to click on it.

So that's kinda all, because I've run out of "stuff" to write about, and I hope this helps!
