Why is the short URL for Youtube censored?

I saw a message with the short URL for youtube (you tu . be) and it was censored.
I looked, and can't find any bad words in it, and tried splitting it up, and it appears that it is intentionally censored? Why is this?

I believe it can't be easily replace with the Scratch YouTube player so they just censor it.

Why don't they say something like "please use youtube.com" or something instead, as not to confuse users like me?
