Also, I hope you know that with most ad providers, you only get money if people click the ads. Just having them there doesn't guarantee any revenue.

I do understand this.  However, I also understand that the way that I am planning on having the links will actually avoid adblock having a massive effect.  Hopefully, the users of the site become interested enough in the ads to click on it!  smile

What is actually happening is the scratcher has submitted a page  + image that they would like to advertise.  They don't have to pay anything to get the space.  Rather, I will convert the links to [please don't put commercial ads on Scratch]  smile

If you do that, I will find a way to block them, even if I have to write my own extension.

Also, how do you plan on getting the users you say you are going to get?

I have a way for that, so don't bother about that.

So, you're going to be bothered enough to block every single image which is classified as an ad, when it isn't intrusive, and is tested for ads, as well as being from people you may know from scratch?  Well then, it doesn't effect me.  Actually, I will supply my own setting to disable the ads within the site, if this is your wish. ;_;

Re: Inquiring into your opinion of ads upon websites.

You should also keep in mind that...
-[please don't put commercial ads on Scratch] pays you about $5 for 1000 clicks (or maybe even less)
-People don't want to visit a site that has a lot of ads or where every link is adfly

As long it's not the annoying pop up ones where it opens a new window without you doing anything, I'd be fine with it.

I'm hypocritical about it. I don't like them, and i use adblockers. Yet, i put them on my site.

If you don't have intrusive ones and really need funding, I'd be happy to you on my whitelist though.

Re: Inquiring into your opinion of ads upon websites.

I don't care what ads you put on. I use Adblock and Ghostery.

But use Google ads. People are most likely to click on those.

Re: Inquiring into your opinion of ads upon websites.

If you use pop-ups, everyone should get the Better Pop-up Blocker to prevent them.

Re: Inquiring into your opinion of ads upon websites.

I have considered all these, and am working on some things.  As, for the moment:

http://cyberkidscountry.com/mw  I don't think I'll keep the interstitial website entry ad though. I might change it to a banner ad...

I will NEVER  use popups.

Re: Inquiring into your opinion of ads upon websites.

First of all, adfly is SO ANNOYING. Especially when that piece of garbage plays some stupid video ad or something and you have to mute the computer so your mom doesn't think you're looking at insurance policies.
Second of all, please get some decent banner ads if you choose to use them. I cannot stand the ones that a) change the background of the entire site (like on the MInecraft Forums), b) are scams, or c) have scantily clad vampire women on them because they're advertising some stupid MMO that like 10 people play.

So yeah. That was my two-paragraph semi-rant on ads.

Yawn, another boring text signature. I should really make something better.

Fair enough, I understand.  I do use ad-block myself, but if you consider the consequences of having a high amount of traffic, with little to no money, then your account will be shut down - so i have to work on ways to make the income of the website.  $$$ so I could probably get a dedicated server.   smile

Find a reputable ad host. You could email Coolmath about who they use, they dont have viruses in their ads.
