I would recommend, after learning variables, to start using batch and the command line to learn basic programming using text not blocks, then moving on to something more advanced like Java or C++

Would flash be good for an 11 year old? Python's getting a bit too boring and visual graphics are confusing to me in it.

If you want graphics, I recommend JavaScript and HTML 5 canvas.

Flash is good for games, I suppose, but it isn't very free.

Python is a meh to start.

If you want to start on a language you can use foreverrrrr:

Javascript.
C/C++.
ASM (trololo)
Java.

That's it.

The rest will fall out later (i.e. flash is way overpriced and python is SLOW)

and as a matter of fact flash has now started to sink its era is over . now is the time for open standards and HTML5 . :-) so if you want to govisual and all go for HTML5

brother flash loses in games from html5 aswell
HTML 5 is 3d-canvas better known as WebGL which is like openGL running inside a browser flashes 3d-stage is good but its a layered and falls behind WebGL in performance etc.
Further webRTC( peer to peer inside web-brower) etc make it better for a game aswell

Ove got a "Programming For Dummies" Bok with helped a ton. Came ewith dwnloads of BASIC and Liberty.
And does anyone know of some srt of free mini OS in Python? I dont want to learn a whole new language for the RaspberryPi.

I do not know about anyone else, but I love using batch and VBS! such a nice language, and it is quite simple, I suggest learning it!
