Hi, I'm ssss. You may know me, you may not. I would like to inquire into your opinion of ads. I am currently making a website, similar to Facebook, however I need to create the most profits from the advertisements which I put into it. I am considering only using text based ads, like Google does, but I don't believe it will gain the revenue required. I could also simply use referral sites such as swagbucks, where I gain points by referring people - but this is a very unstable form of advertising, however people are more likely to click on it. I am currently testing using ad.fly links and the website entry script.
Please post your opinion.

I could, but it doesn't provide the revenue required. I will probably add a donate button, or perhaps offer a $5 remove ads for a year. But, I still need the ads to provide a small amount of income.

Fair enough, I understand. I do use ad-block myself, but if you consider the consequences of having a high amount of traffic, with little to no money, then your account will be shut down - so i have to work on ways to make the income of the website. $$$ so I could probably get a dedicated server.

Just use 000

I'd use Adblock anyways

For a facebook alternative? I don't think you understand the costs behind the traffic & space needed for it.
How popular do you think your website will be?

Popular enough for 000webhost and all similar hosts to cancel my membership.
Mostly because of alot of CPU usage which will be occurring.

Then switch hosts at that point (as in get a server and then give it ads)

To what host? As it is, I will be using powweb as a host. Because my dad pays for it. But when it gets over the "unlimited" cpu usage it claims to be, it'll be shut down as well. The only way to get the proper amount of cpu usage is to pay for a dedicated server, which is expensive. ;_;
there is also the point of space - as I am going to be allowing uploads of videos and images and Microsoft files, then there will be a huge amount of space used.

I'll never notice because of AdBlock, but the biggest thing would be to not have companies with animated ones.
They should be still and unmoving.

Thank you for that. I was considering letting people [such as ones from scratch] submit an ad [as a still image], and I send it through ad.fly first [A banner or interstitial].
I would get the money even if they used adblock.

Get all outgoing links to link to [please don't put commercial ads on Scratch]. It's the least annoying and most productive advertising form in my opinion.
And btw it's been a long time since I've seen you around ssss

Aye. It has been!
I do check up on scratch, but I rarely come on. If I do post something, it has to be something of importance to me!
Wanna talk on tinychat?

Why don't you make a donate button that is an adfly-link that links to an adfly-link and so on. At the end, put a "thanks for donating" page.

Well, that's against the ad.fly terms of use. Sadly. However, anyone who uses facebook knows that [please don't put commercial ads on Scratch] is blocked. I am working on a page where it waits ten seconds with a few ads on the page, then redirects them to the [please don't put commercial ads on Scratch] link.

Adblock!

I actually like your idea, you could have scratchers' programs link through ad.fly and earn money. Of course you have to ask the scratcher first

Also, I hope you know that with most ad providers, you only get money if people click the ads. Just having them there doesn't guarantee any revenue.
